Im am SO shocked one of "you lot" picked up on this.

The EDP have loads of previous on this kind of inflammatory crap.

Absolute nothing story, but feel free to twist it into more anti-Ashton nonsense (as if you need an excuse).

Fans singing it is one thing.

The man who happens to be both Chief Executive and Chairman joining in with the chant is another.

Ffs man. People are allowed to voice opinions without you turning up in every single thread to cry about it.

The chairman of the club joining in with chants like this is pretty poor stuff, regardless of any of the other stuff that has gone on this season.

Hehe, I didn't even voice an opinion. I asked a neutral question by the title of the thread. But some people cannot see beyond their own nose end, nor debate or discuss in any meaningful way, preferring bluster and whatnot Lastwordism. Fully expected such a response.

But, to ask again, is such behaviour from the CEO classy or not ? Discuss.

Or bluster.

Sounds like, after Faragegate, he went to the PR firm that advised Gerald Ratner to ask them how to dig himself out of a hole.

Of course, this may go no further than the EDP, but it strikes me as madness given the far greater focus the club will be under in the Premier League.

And the answer to the question, given his position, is no. Indeed, I would have thought that a letter of apology is in order. But I don't think he knows the meaning of the word.

It's stuff like this that does make me wonder if he's on his way out over the summer.

He's always been an arrogant front-and-centre type chap, but not to the extent he's been this weekend.

Maybe he's just deciding to plumb new depths, but part of it has a "f**k it, I'm off anyway" feel to it.

Or, on the flip side, he's been given the board's backing and now feels even more emboldened to do this sort of stuff, given that bare-faced lies about using the club to promote a Fascist don't even warrant a sacking.

Not the behaviour I would expect of a CEO or Chairman of any serious organisation, but another misstep from a man who hasn’t made many (any?) up until the last international break.

Hasn't admitted to any, at least.

And we all know that he's repeatedly promised to admit mistakes when they're made.

Not sure on that, getting the vibe he has no plans on departing and the owners seem very happy.

No idea if this is true or just made up guff.

You'd think Ashton might be looking to keep his powder dry, so if this is true - that's really disappointing to say the least.

The EDP didn't force Ashton to sing the Delia song. Not something the Chairman and CEO should be doing imo. More lack of judgement from him.

That thought also occurred to me after posting, hence the edit.

There's certainly a decent chance he's been given the board's backing, and is now cranking it all up to eleven.

Indeed.

Far from CEO/Chairman-like behaviour.

There's probably a very simple judgement question for this sort of thing - would Cobbold/Sheepy/O'Leary have done it?

Why do you feel the need to lump everyone who disagrees with you in a category of "you lot"? The people who are pissed off at Ashton span a variety of posters, they aren't a homogenous group.

It's also not a nothing story. I'm sure if the Norwich chairman/CEO was joining in derogatory chants about an equivalent figure at Town it would be picked up on by us and our local media. It's not great behaviour. Fans engaging in this sort of stuff is one thing, even players to some extent, but the leadership at the club should be above all this. It speaks to his character, again.
