| Genuine question about Ashton 19:11 - May 5 with 1538 views | Dyland | Is it normal for the CEO/Chairman of a football club to be so front and centre with the media? Aye, I get that I'm seeing it mainly on ITFC related platforms but is it the same everywhere? Now, I'm not saying it's necessarily a bad thing per se. Maybe it takes some pressure off McKenna e.g. It does however point to the possibility that he's an attention seeking egomaniac innit. Now, I'm not saying that's a bad thing for the club per se. Etc. COYFBFFS! | |

| Genuine question about Ashton on 19:28 - May 5 with 1438 views | Guthrum | Don't think it's uncommon. MacAnthony at Peterborough being an example. Evans hiding from the press entirely was more unusual. It does help that Ashton knows how to do it quite well (is articulate, engaging and doesn't rant like a Chansiri). [Post edited 5 May 19:29]

| Genuine question about Ashton on 19:34 - May 5 with 1379 views | John_Warks_Willy | On the scale of having something to say and wanting everyone to hear it, he’s pretty high. He’s certainly no Darragh MacAnthony though, and recent events have hopefully given him a timely sense check on looking after his profile ahead of more attention again next year. | |

Agreed. I can think of quite a few and some have been forthcoming about their own political views too - Ratcliffe at Man U springs to mind. Of course, the big difference is that Ratcliffe never used the club to promote a particular politician or party that conformed to his political views (although he did still get criticism for the nature of his views and I believe the football authorities received complaints about them bringing the game into disrepute too).

| Genuine question about Ashton on 19:39 - May 5 with 1301 views | Garv | Fine line between people wanting leadership and a figurehead, and hearing from someone too much. I've always thought of Ashton as the most brilliant cheerleader for the club you could wish for, not in a patronizing way. Obviously some of it is a bit odd and cringe worthy and whatever else, so you don't have to agree with everything he says or does, but you can't really argue with how he promotes the club and tries to make it the best it can be. | |

| Genuine question about Ashton on 20:21 - May 5 with 1133 views | Kropotkin123 | After being on a slow decline for 20 years, he came in and we got promoted or relegated 4 seasons in a row, playing some awesome football, particularly in the first two years, has made us and therefore him a bit of a media magnet. The media want to hear from people representing clubs transitioning between the leagues. Speaking to a club that finished 2nd, 2nd, 19th, 2nd is inherently more interesting than speaking to a team that finished 13th, 6th, 13th, and 9th in the championship over the same period for example. Add to that we have a rich history and many interviewers still know about that or have fond memories of us doing well, so we are an interesting club in a way that a club like Norwich aren't. | |

| Genuine question about Ashton on 06:24 - May 6 with 656 views | Blue_Heath | Not sure there is a normal, I guess it's ach to his own. Ron Noades used to pick the team at Palace for example lol whereas Evans hid behind a screen. I like the vocalness and passion from Ashton and can't help wondering was the whole F incident a master stroke at deflecting things away from the team at crunch time in the season, a very unfortunate error or something more sinister? I guess we all have our views and not looking to re-open it. For me everyone's allowed one mistake, mission complete, let's move on. Really hope the recruitment team can be much, much better this summer, I'd go with less is more approach and sign no more than 10 new players ideally around 8. | |

| Genuine question about Ashton on 06:37 - May 6 with 604 views | IPS_wich | I'd say there are very few CEOs/Board Chairs in any industry that are not front and centre in most public forums. Evans really was an anomaly. Football Clubs are unique in that the public and media would rather hear from the team manager - but at the end of the day Ashton runs our club and McKenna is an employee. For all of the comments that there's a bit of David Brent about him - the truth is most of us will have worked with a boss or two who've got some/all of those characteristics. Most leaders have got to the top because they talk a good game - what you really want is a leader who can also walk the walk. For all of his 'look at me' tendencies, Ashton has done a pretty good job of walking the walk up until the Farage debacle. | | | |
| Genuine question about Ashton on 13:54 - May 6 with 266 views | soupytwist | The Guardian published an interview with the Coventry City owner (so not exactly comparable to Ashton) but he does seem to have a high public profile. Whether that results in the same kind of, in my view, somewhat questionable behaviour that Ashton can be prone to, I don't know. https://www.theguardian.com/fo | | | |

| Genuine question about Ashton on 14:11 - May 6 with 196 views | Mullet | Dave Whelan maybe? Usually they’re known because they are at big clubs eg Levy. But I can’t remember the owners of most clubs being at front of the parade bus etc Ashton seems very much toward the top of the pile for camera hunting. | |

Lucky to have a CEO that threatened a supporters group he would kick them "Out of my stadium" because he disapproved of a banner they displayed? Lucky to have a CEO who lied to & gaslit a whole fan base & local journalists to cover for his actions in facilitating a visit from a divisive political figure for a PR campaign? Lucky to have a CEO lacking the humility to apologise for his actions instead passing the blame onto the club for it's lack of procedures? You might think you're lucky to have someone like that at the helm, I don't.
