I remember when nearly all of us on here really wanted Town to sign him. If tonight's anything to go by we dodged a bullet. He has been awful tonight. Too weak.

Would have obviously been a good signing the year we went up from L1 and he’s done more for Boro that McAteer has so far here. Not now though.

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?

Odd hair, too. Everyone can see he is trying to avoid looking like he is receding at the sides. That hairline's gonna keep drifting backwards until he looks very silly indeed.

Grade 1 time, Morgan!

Im not really one who should be commenting on looks but every time I see Whittaker I can't help seeing ET.... Is it just me?

Poll: What rating out of 10 do you give to Ipswichs season up to this point?

Way too inconsistent for me. He can go a couple of years looking crap and only rarely does he find somewhere he feels he can actually play. I’m surprised he’s still on the pitch tonight.

Nah not good enough. Too slow.

TWTD CP. Evans Out.

From what I recall, McKenna actually met him in the January we were in League 1 after he was recalled by Swansea.

On the CBS coverage here, Troy Deeney just spent three minutes absolutely slaughtering him. It’s weird, scores bangers once a month, is awful most other games.

The entire CBS EFL pundit team is low quality. The dopey bird presenter, Deeny, the always grumpy Nigel Reo Coker, the American bloke. Glad we won’t have to watch it next season!

Can’t complain really, when I first moved over here I was trying to get some radio Suffolk feed through a VPN on digital radio so EFL has come a long way.

What bugged me throughout the run in is they clearly didn’t even look at the damn table closely. Reo Coker saying how poor the result was at WBA. Saying that a few on TWTD didn’t seem to understand that either!

I too recall the glorious days of ITFCVideo blagging the radio Suffolk feed. Those were the days! We are indeed spoilt now with pretty much every game available.

Instant full match replays on TownTV too... I remember a full match on VHS direct from the club with no commentary and dodgy sound costing an extortionate amount of money.

Yes, the progression in breadth and quality of coverage has been amazing, really.

Honestly if that was an Ipswich player put in a performance like that I would want them sold on the spot. He bottled every single duel, strolled around lazy as anything and has 0 quality.

No wonder Boro fans booed him earlier in the season. That Castledine wasn't much better.

Pretty sure Fox still had PL as well and you’d get one game with Warren Barton in studio! The NBC contract was pretty game changing for popularity and coverage, although I find some of those pundits quite boring.

NBC’s coverage is mostly excellent. Tim Howard is not the best pundit, but the two Robbies are pretty good. Just a shame we have to suffer Lee Dixon on comms. Should have been sacked years ago. Waffles on and says noting. Zero analysis.

I didn't and never have! Very very few strikers in the Championship would cut it in the PL. Vipotnik possibly and I wouldn't want to bank on that, maybe Wright at Coventry, wouldn't want a mortgage on that either! Just leaves a certain Mr McBurnie, he's been there, not done that! That all probably explains why a certain wide left player is at least joint 3rd in the goals scored list, even allowing for penalties which still have to be scored.

Never been a fan and he really does have a tiny head and some strange hair going on. he isn’t a PL player

A post about another player and someone has to use it to belittle McAteer. I would argue he has played really well and grown into the role with some key goals.

That was very much the same with the coverage here tbf.

It was obviously a huge point but they made out like it was a massive problem.

Yeah, especially as one is more of an attacking midfielder who can and does sometimes play wide ( Whitaker of course ). There's no stopping agenda's I'm afraid.

I don’t think there’s an argument. McAteer is becoming a very effective player. It’s taken time, but he made a difference at seasons end.

To the point in hand - Whittaker. He’s a very good player and scored probably the best opposition goal two seasons ago for Plymouth. But firstly he seems a bit in and out. Deadly at t8mes, anonymous at other times. Top end Championship is I think his ceiling.
