Wharton to Man Utd, Hackney to Palace.

Nowhere near champions league level.

Expect him to end up at a Brighton or Brentford

Surely people don’t believe this has a chance?

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?

Well he can’t even make the Boro bench - we need better than that.

But sliding doors moment - he would be in a PL team by now if he had signed on the dotted line

Hardly sliding doors for his career, he’s obviously going to go to a sizeable PL club regardless.

Not particularly!

I saw him looking glum on the bench and couldn't resist.

Stranger things have happened - but I agree, it’s a long shot (like Shea Charles’)

Why does he have to be champions league level now ? He easily could be one day.

These clubs can afford to bring players in and let them learn and develop. There are worse players who have competed in the Champions League than Hackney.

Why not? We’re a Premier League club who can no doubt now offer him more than we were last summer.

Yes he’ll have other Prem clubs interested, but does he go to a Palace, or Everton, or Brighton and start every week? I’m not sure personally.

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

What we can’t offer him is a greater chance of remaining a PL player after next season...that is why he’ll not be coming here. If he has confidence in his own ability, and it would seem he’s a confident lad, he’ll think he can be a regular in a established second tier PL team....maybe even stay in the North East?

Tbh, I'm not sure he's really all that. Big fish in a little pond. His boyhood pond. He and his agent feel ge us better than he really is in my view. He'll go to an established PL , and disappear within a couple of seasons, only to return to Boro.

He can look at the moves Delap and Hutchinson got after being here.

Part of being an club like we now are is to accept you are a stepping stone for developing players. You can have top players, but understand that you're just a brief stop in the scheme of things.

Aye, its not easy to accept though is it... but this development thing for Town is gradual, and to some extent we may well be a yo-yo club for a period of time perhaps. But I can see the PL breaking uo and being reorganised in the not too distant future as the big guns sod off to their kerching land, such is football is these days.

Man Utd need starting level champions league level midfielders now. All they have is Mainoo. Caseimro is off, Ugarte is shit and Mount isn't really a CM/injured/sh*t

Hackney will be 24 at the start of next season. This isn't some kid, its a lad moving in to his prime years. If he had top 4 potential, he would have moved years ago.

Think he can be a good prem player for a mid-table side. He's not the next Jude Bellingam.

I respect Hackney for choosing to stay loyal in the end - it must've been an incredibly tough decision to change his mind so late in the day.

After having him in the building last summer, I'll be quite surprised if he doesn't end up here
