Could well be the reason for pile driving , perhaps a new complete toilet block for fanzine area.

Well I hope they're well finished by the start of the season - the last thing you want to be doing is going to the toilet with fresh piles.

Don't think there are any planning applications in so think it's unlikely it's a new permanent structure.

If that is what is there it will likely be for ground investigations to inform the foundation design for the new tier on the west stand. It looks like they have also moved the fanzine marquee to run parallel with the car park too? [Post edited 13 May 12:49]

Not quite as bad as the festering hell hole block that used to steam at the back of Churchmans, but West stand bogs were well into waders and gas mask territory last season. My guess is they’re getting the bio noddy suit mob in to deal with some of the worst of it.

It’s within the current stand, someone told me it looks like they’ve ripped the lower tier out! I’ve not seen it myself yet but I reckon it’s the toilets closest to the SBR stand, right in the corner, always a bottleneck getting in and out as it’s a shared narrow entry/exit.

Could just go back to pissing in the sinks like the North Stand in the good old days....

They are moving the disabled area to the SBR end of the West Stand. Also reconfiguring the disabled area in SBR lower and putting in safe standing. Will be a few supporters being asked to move seats again.

Using the sink? What’s wrong with a rolled up copy of the Daily Sketch and peeing down it onto the terrace? TWTD

There were no sinks in the block from hell behind Churchmans (memory might be telling me porkies on that). If there were nobody bothered even if they worked. There was only so long you could hold your breath. Just an upturned trough and a sticky but puddled floor along with green air coming out of each end. Mind you yes, I experienced NS, including an ST in its final year and the word bad didn’t really describe the state of the bogs.

Not as bad as the freshly painted carzi in the Peterborough away end years ago which due to the steam and ammonia from everyone's piss actually went on the attack. There were some very annoyed blokes there whose expensive clobber was now covered in piss scented paint.

I tell my sons about the legend that was the Churchman’s Gents in the 70’s and 80’s and they refuse to believe me.

Bloody heck. I wonder if that will mean more seats in SBRL then.

Bristol Rovers away in the FA Cup in the 80s. Eastville had burnt down in parts and it was a snow on the ground job. There was a big portaloo behind the crumbling terrace. Looking in, the liquids and possibly solids were six inches plus deep, right up to the lip of the door. Comedians outside were rocking it up and down to create waves. Hilarious. Most sane who valued their health ‘made their own arrangements’. Old football eh? At least we won.

It does. From what I can see in the 26/27 seating plan, they've managed to squeeze in an extra ~200 seats in SBR blocks 4 and 6, where the disabled sections were. The first 1 - 2 rows of SBR 5 have been removed, to accommodate the new disabled areas. This has allowed the seats that blocked views from the (old) disabled areas to be released. Then they've managed to reconfigure the seats in SBR 5, to add a couple of extra seats in each row. So overall probably about an extra 200 seats in SBRL. Next season could see crowds of 30k+ every week for probably the first time in our history.
