Of your 3 sentences / work scenarios, I did the first, mid-career, for 5 years. It was amazing, fabulous, intense & rewarding. If I had had the pressure from your second & third sentences it would have been pretty hard to bear.
After those 5 years, I spent the last 7 years of my career in very different roles, still challenging, but at least I got home most evenings. It made a big difference.
