Good , now let’s get ready for new season.

Absolutely no problem with this appointment.

Me neither.

Far better in my view to have someone like him who has experience of the lower reaches of the Premier League.

I wonder if he realises he’s been tried and condemned like a failed Russian General by the dismals before he’s even had his first swivel on the manager’s comfy chair?

Personally, good luck to him. Who is to say he won’t be a perfect fit here? Only time will tell.

Looking back now, whilst McKenna had the job as long as he wanted as far as I was concerned, change is normal and maybe it was the right time for us as well as Kieran.

I won't lie, it is not exactly the most exciting appointment, but after the last few years I'm not sure what would be. I wish him every success, and hope this turns out to be an absolute blinder.

Ashton out

I really really hope I am wrong, but to me we are aiming for mediocraty. Aim for the top was always encouraged when I was a youngen. I think our recruitment may suffer. I cannot think of a worserer manager in the premier league.

Define "the top". At this stage in our progress, what could be more "top" than Ipswich Town becoming an established Premier League team?

In any case, setting unrealistic goals is just daft (e.g. wanting to break into the top ten this season, or getting a really big name). Failure becomes inevitable. Gambling everything upon pie in the sky is even more silly (e.g. hiring an unknown European in the vague hope they are some sort of magician).

Far better to bet upon reasonable certainties. A reliable pair of hands with known experience at exactly the job in hand. Maybe not exciting or flashy, but can do the important stuff.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Surely the aim is to stay in the league, not win it first go.
Lets see how it pans out, got to give the guy a shot.
We all love KM, but our last go at the prem wont take a lot of beating.

I would be happy with mediocrity in the Prem, the last bloke didn't get anywhere near that good.

Farewell Kieran Mckenna, our best manager of the post Evans era so far.

I’d say people on the whole have been open and supportive whilst acknowledging he’s maybe not an adventurous continental appointment.

Let’s not make this like after some of the poorer results this season where there are more people moaning about the negative posters, than actual negative posts! Same with Ashton out, very much a minority view (albeit a loud one) given how there was no impact on attendances.

Gutted to lose KM's coaching / player improvement ability. But I think who's at the helm matters less than our ability to recruit quality players. GON deserves a fair crack of the whip. Unconvinced our research & negotiating are up to snuff. If we recruit poorly again for this Prem season, then I'd be more inclined to consider the common factor in our two failed attempts to stay in the Prem: Mark Ashton.

Ha, fair point!
I was going to say Photoshop but then realised he probably got AI to do it.

Thing is, my question was genuinely useful in getting to know O'Neil's tactics and style of play. Designing him up in a Town blazer and in front of an Ipswich crowd is of no benefit to anyone.

Also, Romano does it every time. So my point was the regularity. OPs from me sharing what ChatGPT has to say are pretty rare.

Had he used a Getty Images stock photo it would have cost him money.

His "original" AI creation is rights-free.

Why does his post need an image?

He's basically trying to jump the gun on the official unveiling photo. It's just weird and serves no purpose.

Free to him. But where do you think AI sourced O’Neils likeness from?
So Fab gets a ‘free’ image, and the photographer who took that original image, doesn’t get paid appropriately for the use.

It’s theft.
