Not sure this has been touched on in other posts. But he’s been in charge at Strasbourg for 6 months and jumping ship because a better opportunity has arisen for him. Not a good trait, and although we want him to succeed his track record suggests if he does and a bigger club comes calling he will not hesitate to do the same again.

Correct. But I accept the reality not much loyalty in life/football.

McKenna had opportunities to go to a ‘bigger’ club 2 years ago and he stayed. So there is still loyalty in football - just hard to find.

Loyalty or a hefty salary increase that his suitors were unprepared to match?

McKenna was quite happy to jump ship more than once here as soon as Prem teams came knocking. He chose money over going.

Did you slate him for that?

His track record?

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

“His track record”?

His managerial career so far is 3 clubs, the first two of which sacked him, so I don’t quite understand this questioning of his loyalty. Didn’t George Burley leave Colchester for a better opportunity higher up the league? His tenure wasn’t too bad, was it?

I assume you work, supposing another company offered to double your wages you'd go right?

If he did move on again it would mean he's done a good job so don't think there's too much to worry about here.

Yeah, I’m less concerned about loyalty- more concerned we’ve appointed a manager who has had a fair crack of the whip, but never completed a whole season 😂

So what you're saying is Ashton was wrong to target any mgr currently in a job and he should have focused purely on those mgrs unemployed, because any mgr in a job would be disloyal to join Town?

You do understand that the only way a ‘bigger’ fish were to come in for O’Neil would be that he’s hugely successful here!

Of course I understand. I was merely pointing out he is not a loyal manager.

It was not an outrageous comment, not many are loyal. I am surprised the thread got this much traction. I hope in a couple of years there are 'bigger' clubs trying to poach him as it'll mean we have done well.

Quick, let’s find another stick to beat our new manager with

You are getting confused. I am not 'beating' him in any way. Just pointing out he lacks loyalty, but that is normal in football and in life for a lot of regular people too.

I am OK with the appointment and hope he does well.

Going from 50k to 100k is a lot different to going from £1M to £2M (when you should already be set for life financially) in my opinion. But again I understand and respect a lot of people choose money over showing loyalty.

So are you saying he should’ve stayed at Bournemouth and Wolves longer, after they’d sacked him? Where are you getting this lack of loyalty from?

Didn't you read? It's his track record.
Disloyalty is literally in Gary O'Neils M.O.

I know you are going to mention the 2 sackings from 3 jobs, but those sackings?
He did that himself. so he could have six months off before changing jobs.

Don't trust him.

No matter who we appoint, if they do well and another club from say the top 6 came knocking, they would go.

Did McKenna go to Chelsea?

Respectfully disagree, it's all relative whilst 100k might allow me to shop at Waitrose, £2m would get me my own chef!
