Would be quite a game for him as it would have to be the final.

If he's a patriotic German, then why not?

Might possibly be the first ever case of an international football coach singing the anthem of the opposition and not the one of the country he's managing! Personally if it was me, I'd sing neither.

Of course he wouldn't because he's not a moron and would appreciate the optics of doing so when he is being paid millions to professionally manage the opposition.

He would be professional and be 💯 committed to the job and nobody in their right mind would consider him unpatriotic not to sing it in the situation.

I think Sven-Göran Eriksson was manager for three games against Sweden. As I remember it, he just stood with his normal placid smile for both anthems.

Very sensible if you ask me. Then SGE was a sensible sort of guy.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that he is an advocate for the restoration of the free Imperial City of Ulm, as part of an independent Swabia, and therefore would not be humming along to some Austrian melody with lyrics from an upstart Brunswicker.

Of course he wouldn't lol

A better question would be what if we play Sweden somehow? Potter sings the swedish anthem.

Hilarious reading the English tieing themselves up in knots about a German not wanting to sing an anthem which means nothing in the context of his role.
If it was karaoke I could understand it, but it is meant to resonate personally.
Perhaps the real problem is the English having lost all sense of who they are and where they come from. I think you lot doth protest too much.

This actually for highlights the problem with performative patriotism in the UK. If Thomas Tuchel were to sing the German anthem, the reaction would be off the charts. However if Graham Potter were to not sing the British anthem, the reaction would be equally OTT.
Let's just assume the Daily Mail, Telegraph and S*n are going to wet themselves whatever happens.
