| Hackney closing in on 12:54 - Jun 29 with 3955 views | burnbudgiesburn | So Boro nearly lost out on £10m if Hackney had decided to move here. Crazy how its that much more with having a year less on his contract but I guess he did have a great season. | | | |

In hindsight it's made little difference for 'boro keeping him that season. Just meant they scraped the playoffs only to fail. But of course they didn't know that when he stayed on - and bear in mind they did accept our bid, so guess it's all come down to player choice. Reminds me of when Matt Holland opted to stay with us after a bid of £4M odd was made by Villa, only to leave for £750k a year later. We didn't go up and that £4M might have been very handy back then.

Everton after Delap? Surprises me, assumed he may struggle to find a new club after last season's disaster!

Last season at Chelsea cost a lot of experienced players a lot more - that's why Palmer is not at the world cup. Am sure most coaches know what potential he has with the right management . . .

I know a few of us have been fingers crossed Delap comes back to us, but seems a lot less likely without McKenna, who I'm assuming Delap had a good relationship with. But I don't anticipate anyone else biting Chelsea's hand off either.

Never go back. Unless you're John Wark.

Spurs also interested in Delap

Surely Matt must have paid back the difference to the club to join the board of directors.

Disaster is harsh. A good half of the PL would still be happy to have Delap at the right place. A good third would snap your hand off for him.

Leicester (amongst others, Hull, Sheff U) trying not to look frantic whilst abiding by FFP. Boro looking for value I guess

Hackney and Delap in this window would be great business. Both players would strengthen us but that ship has sailed for both imho

| Hackney closing in on 18:53 - Jun 29 with 1136 views | Hermann_eats_puffin | I know that he’s only got 1 year left on his contract but that seems like a pretty fair fee for him. I wouldn’t mind betting that Everton make a profit on him in a year or two. I’d of still liked to see him sign for us last summer but he had a go at getting the club he supports into the PL and when that didn’t happen he’s got himself a decent PL move so for him it’s worked out well but it was still a shame for us. | | | |
| Hackney closing in on 20:58 - Jun 29 with 770 views | emergencylime | Turns out that Griff chap's reel from Jan, "sorry Boro, but Hayden hack-er-ney, is a bloo" may be partially true after all. Look, if my brain quotes it everytime Hackney gets a mention, then it's only fair I share the burden. | |

It sounds like a proposed move for Tim Iroegbunam to Hull has broken down and reading this it sounds like perhaps a combination of Everton wanting £20m and people at Hull not being sure whether or not they wanted him has scuppered the proposed transfer to Hull. https://www.goodisonnews.com/t I appreciate that the remaining length of Hackney's contract may have an influence over this but I think that Hackney for £16m makes Irorgbunam perhaps sound a bit on the expensive side at £20m.

£20m is a huge amount of money for Hull in their position/ will burn a huge portion of their budget and disrupt their wage structure significantly. I think as a 22 year old with 50 odd games in the prem, it’s not a massive surprise that he commands a better fee than Hackney at this point in his career plus Hackney is 2 years older and not played above the championship.
