With all the emotion that was going on you can excuse Mbappe. He hopefully regrets ignoring Gill as you are right he was not part of the Paraguay problem, but Mbappe was probably trying to keep away and stay out of any trouble.
At the end of the day there was a general lack of handshakes at the end, a good thing to separate them given the behaviour of the majority of the Paraguayan players and staff. | | | |

I know it's normal for keepers to try to psych out pen takers but I can't remember seeing one insert themselves as close as Gill did after the scuffing crew were finally moved on by the ref. Possible words were exchanged in that interaction that went beyond the norm, on top of the personal space invasion?
Tbh from my perspective Mbappe came out with good credit after that one and I laughed when the keeper took umbrage they'd hed been blanked. Paraguay tonight reminded me of the scandalous Uruguay scenes in that Ghana game all those years ago. Where some will go to try to win. | | | |
