| Nigel’s Charade… on 16:41 - Jul 7 with 1944 views | Zx1988 | Is it that much of a sure thing, though? Restore will throw the kitchen sink at the seat, and could get some traction with the line 'we're just as racist as Nige (if not more so), but your MP will actually spend time in the constituency'. Looking at the previous figures I don't think there's anywhere enough of a non-Reform vote to come riding through the middle, even if Restore do a good job of creating the split. | |

All too fragmented now. Nige, Rupe and Kemi-who are splitting the right too much, Labour are recovering (or will be) from Sir Kier trying to appeal to those who’ll never agree with him and the Libs and Greens don’t stand a chance there.

Restore saying they won't stand a candidate as it's a joke election. They'll wait till he's found guilting for his dodgy gifts and has to have another. Does beg the question of whether every major party should just not stand anyone. No campaigns, no coverage, deny him oxygen for his farce.

If Restore aren't standing, then I'm with you - no point in holding an election. Have all the major parties refuse to stand, see if the minor parties and independents can be encouraged to do similar, and have an uncontested election with no need for the costs.

I'd like to see the other parties step aside to allow Count Binface a clear run at it. edit - I'm not even joking. We've seen on here alone in recent times how the far right don't like it when people take the piss out of them. Imagine a whole country watching Farage desperately trying to come across as statesmanlike facing off against an independent space warrior with a bin on his head. And the banta in the commons afterward. [Post edited 7 Jul 17:48]

Ed Davey saying that they shouldn't accept any resignation till the completion of the investigation (not sure if possible), but that if an election is held before then that every other party should boycott the by-election.

It is being suggested that the investigation ceases when he stops being an MP. As a newly elected MP, he is then obliged to declare stuff in the 12 months before election- which pushes all the dates forward. Not looked into it, but it sounds a possible loophole / motive.

Unless the guidance has changed in the last few hours, the complaints are only suspended pending the outcome of the by-election. The commissioner can also continue with their investigation at their discretion. Unless the earlier explanations today were wrong of course. Doesn’t really matter anyway. He’s still a dodgy, racist ****

🧵 Amid all the speculation about Nigel Farage's 2pm statement, it's worth noting paragraph 40 of the Procedural Protocol to the MPs' Code of Conduct. If he announces he's resigning and seeking a by-election, that would not automatically end the investigation into whether he breached the Code in... — Ruth Fox (@ruthfox.bsky.social) 2026-07-07T12:37:20.111Z Reads to me that it's automatically resumed upon re-election. Although we'll have to wait and see. Maybe Count Binface will save the day.

Tories, Labour, Lib Dems and Restore will not be standing. The only confirmed candidates are Reform and Count Binface. Watch Nige do a humiliating u-turn and claim the other parties are too scared or something.

Even Binface retaining his deposit would be rather brilliant. I assume, if it did turn into a two-horse race, the media would be obliged to give Binface as much coverage as Novgorod Nige, right?

If I still lived in Clacton, my vote would definitely go to Binface. So much better than the alternative. Come on Clactonians, you know it makes sense.

Greens said they would let the local party decide. The local party have decided they won't stand anyone. I genuinely hope we get just Binface and Frogface with no other protest options. Could be hilarious. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/art
