| With Emersonn now done 15:57 - Jul 8 with 3325 views | Cheltenham_Blue | And with the team heading off to the training camp in Spain next week, you'd expect the club to want to try and get another one or two done by the end of the week wouldn't you? | |

Looks to be a 9. His 25/26 reel on his own Insta probably paints him in a better light than any of those YouTube videos. https://www.instagram.com/p/Da

Naughty. I look forward to his debut goal against Sunderland. Just a 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 10 to go.

I know its usually skills and tricks that get the juices flowing but some of those chested lay offs were sexy

Looking at some of those flicks, we could be in for some downright dirty football with him and Philogene on the pitch together!

It's been a while since we had an under the radar signing. Think we would have heard something to suggest we were in talks.

First time I've watched that. He's got a bit of everything, hasn't he. One of the most impressive things for me is his timing in either losing a marker or putting a marker on the back foot with a fake move at just the right moment. But he looks like he ticks all the boxes for strength, work rate, two-footed, aerial, movement and timing. Not sure if he's particularly quick, but he was making a lot of space for himself with the above, and he really knows how to hold a defender off at the tender age of 21. Me likee. Also sounds like he has a really good attitude.

I think all of that is true & the club/GO'N know what they are getting for how they want to play this season. I think it's fair to say that his actual finishing, from the various clips available, is not at the level that we might expect from a ÂŁ25m (Brazilian) striker, but ... a) the market is hugely inflated at the moment, with lots of competing clubs trying to bring in forwards, so that's what is needed to actually get him b) he is only 21, so there is time to work with him on improving that area of his game c) he has other impressive qualities which make him a very appealing signing to a newly promoted club, such as his strength, aerial ability & lay offs; all of which will be massively important when we are under pressure (!) and need an outlet for relief d) by all accounts he is a grafter, who never stops running & hassling defenders; again a huge plus He can play up front on his own, but will also be a great strike partner to play off, whether it's with 2 up front, or with a #10 playing off him. I could see someone in the mold of Calum Wilson being absolutely delighted to have Emersonn as a strike partner. He's here now, let's give him a chance & be fair with our expectations. The striker/centre forward role in our team hasn't been all about the number of individual goals scored for quite some time, it's about working hard & linking with those around & behind him. In that respect I think he will do well, & if he manages to get an early goal, he might just surprise us with the number he reaches by the end of the season. [Post edited 9 Jul 9:49]

Agreed, but it's a great opportunity for team & camaraderie building. I'm surprised Pope isn't through the door - it would be great for him to go to Spain with the rest.

We have time too to develop Delap, Hutch, Walle - sorry, he leaves if we get relegated or he doesn’t do the business. When you yo yo like us there is no time to develop young players, the finances don’t allow it. The gaps too big (on and off the pitch). See McKenna - £5 million came with the expectation he HAD to keep us up. That’s 12 months TV money in the EFL (basic allocation). That’s why he would have been told he’d be sacked if we didn’t come up with.., and is certainly one reason (of many) he’s not here. The wages we’re paying Emerson, he won’t want to be in the EFL and we won’t want him to be. So either he or others have to keep us up for any chance of retention.., it’s what makes signing young players in our position an odd strategy, see Xhaka and DCL, that’s the profile we HAVE to sign (and maybe we will) to have 1% chance.

A yo yo goes down and springs straight back. We have done that just the once you have to make a habit of it to be a Yo yo club.

I mentioned it on another thread, reportedly Newcastle won’t bid for James Trafford until after the World Cup. I can’t see Newcastle letting him move until they have another senior keeper in.

The Athletic said on their Tuesday “deal sheet” exactly this. They’re happy for Pope to go but not until they have another keeper in as the French (?) keeper they signed is seen as one for the future and unlikely to be thrust straight in.
| With Emersonn now done on 23:28 - Jul 9 with 952 views | jas0999 | Yes. A lot of work still to do and six weeks Saturday until kick off. At least another eight to do. More if we sell a key player. Can’t afford a last season where deals done too late and folk on here excusing poor results as the team needing time to gel. Interestingly, the same folk who said no need to panic over a lack of signings … | | | |

Leeds seem to be selling all 3 of their senior keepers so if they're keen on him, they'll be serious competition. [Post edited 10 Jul 8:49]

You know Kieran was going to be sacked do you and that's why he's left or are you just making this up? I think I know the answer
