Does anyone else think the material is a lot thinner this season?

Is it just that it’s not carrying the weight of expectancy as much as in the championship?

I went to planet blue yesterday to have a look at the shirts for the first time in the flesh and this was exactly my thinking with the away shirt in particular. Lovely kit though. There was a couple of kits I noticed where the Halo logo was already peeling off which I was quite surprised by

Just done a scientific analysis… and weighted a shirt from last season (232g) and the same size from this season (but still with tags on) - 226g - the tag, as best I can weigh whilst still attached to the shirt appears to be 4g…. This means the same size shirt is 10g lighter than last season in this particular size.

The away shirt is definitely lighter, which makes it very comfortable wearing during the recent heat. Will need a layer or two in the winter mind!

How does the sizing compare to last year's?

The size guide info on the Town store and Umbro websites seem to vary a bit

Dunno about weight, but i just went to the club shop with the intent of buying the away kit, and came out with the home one.

The away one just seemed a bit cheap looking, fabric bunched a bit round the umbro logo, and generally not as nice in the flesh, whereas the home kit was much nicer than the pics suggested.

That may well be the important factor. Not being overly warm for the exertion of a Premier League match.

Are the replica ones on sale in Planet Blue the same shirts as the ones the players wear, or do Umbro do the 'elite' performance ones for them?

I would say slightly tighter. But that could be more to do with it being a thinner material. I was medium this year and last year.

If you are buying ones for kids, go larger than suggested on the ITFC Shop site. Measured the boy for his and when it turned up it was a bit snug

It’s not very scientific unless you assess the variation between shirts. Can you go any buy a few more and see if the results are repeatable. Thanks. About 30 in total would be good.

Had the exact same experience. Heart was set on the away one online but the home one feels much nicer in person.

I tried to do that... but then the other spanner in the works was Yasmin has got the same size as last year, but in the women's fit rather than the standard shirt, so the area of fabric is obviously different, even though it's the same size essentially.

So, I gave up.

I'm not sure that they do. I've not had any first-hand experience of player-issue Town shirts, but the ones that get auctioned off look identical to the replica ones available in Planet Blue.

I seem to recall the burgundy ones from the last PL season looked just as sweaty and unpleasant on the players as my replica one felt on me.

If 'elite' versions were produced, I'm sure they'd be on sale in the shop given the mark-up on them, and the fact that there would definitely be a market for them.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

I've got a few player worn shirts. And they are the same. The most recent one being the pink away shirt worn by Chaplin.
