| Abdul Fatawu on 17:59 - Jul 16 by Trequartista | I agree we needed a RW as well but we re-signed Burns who I wouldn't have re-signed so unless we sell or loan out Ogbene, McAteer and Egeli, I would concentrate on all the other positions first. |
We need a RW just as much as the other positions. Our current RW options are nowhere near good enough. Would be happy with Fatawu.

| Abdul Fatawu on 17:45 - Jul 16 by grow_our_own | "We need a GK, RB, LB, CB, DCM, CM, ACM and a CF." - We don't need any from that list except CM, ACM, & CF. Defensively we were relatively sound last season. Conceded far fewer goals than last time we went up. Our problem was scoring, where the 2024/5 team was much better. First and foremost, we need to buy goals. Of our attacking four positions, only left-10 was consistently good enough last season. |
Well we need a left-back because we only have 1 unless you count Ben Johnson who is not really good enough for the Championship in his favoured right-side never mind left-side. Furlong is not premier league quality. We can't go into the season with just Greaves, O'Shea and Kipre at centre-back It's not the end of the world to have Walton, Palmer and Button but I would prefer to replace Palmer with a top keeper. We need 2 central midfielders, we have Taylor and Matusiwa at the moment.

We're much lighter in both quality and numbers in other positions. It would be quite a strange decision to re-sign Burns and then get rid of 18m Egeli and a resurgent McAteer on either loan or sale, and although I agree that none of those are yet the premier league quality we need, I'm not convinced Fatawu is either.

| Abdul Fatawu on 17:41 - Jul 16 by grow_our_own | We have zero right-wingers who are Prem quality. Two left-wingers who are. RW was a problem position for us almost the whole of last season, very few goal involvements from that side. If we're going to sign one from the English leagues outside the Prem, I'd prefer Femi Azeez. Had a much better season than Fatawu, and is physically bigger, which everyone raves on about being a necessity. Genuinely two footed, unlike Fatawu. The way Leicester caved to relegation is damning of the character of their highly-paid players. |
I would very much take him in preference to Azeez, who is a good player but very much in the 'could he step up to the PL?' mold. As we have seen with both Jack Clarke & Philogene, picking the best of the Championship is no guarantee of success in the PL, when they haven't already adapted to it. Fatawu has shown that he can be a real threat in the PL from his time there with Leicester. Last season was an outlier given the state of that's club as a whole, but the emergence of wonderkid Monga, also served to undersell his impact. I'd be happy with this & previously suggested Fatawu & Hackneys as the 2 from the Championship that were still worth enquiring about, despite our more international focus this time around.

100% on your final paragraph. This is a player who has proven to be a star player at Champ level and was adapting well to life in the PL before his ACL injury. A really progressive player, potentially available at a slightly distressed price in the market re. Leicester's status. He's got a lot of similar attributes to Omari i.e. ability to go both ways, great work rate out of possession and general power.

Doesn’t a right winger become a left back in the second half, or have I got that wrong? We may have many right wingers, but can you honestly say any of them look PL ready? Jack and Billy Jean are far better than all of them yet they looked poor in the PL last time out.

Right winger is one of our biggest positions of need. You cannot go in to the Premier League with Wes Burns and Kasey Mcateer as your options if you are a serious team.

| Abdul Fatawu on 17:16 - Jul 16 by burnbudgiesburn | 9 goals and 7 assists last season, not bad going. Had assumed he had downed tools with the rest of Leicesters 'stars' If there's anything in it let's hope we don't overpay like we did McAteer (not his fault ) and take advantage of the fact that City need the money and the reduced wage bill. Only 22 though, and cost them £14.5m. It's gonna start with a 2 isn't it? |
"It's gonna start with a 2 isn't it?" 29.99, has to be a bargain.

When we went down in 2002, did you think any of Marcus Stewart, Matt Holland, Hermann Hreidarsson, Darren Bent et al were worth picking up? That was a fairly dismal relegation.

Egeli could move centrally, that leaves Burns, Fatawu and Macateer. Seems decent enough

You realise we’re in the middle of a transfer window and this player is miles better than what we have on the right wing?

You're not the first person i've seen sharing this sort of sentiment. Surely the important thing isn't how many right wingers we have... it's whether any of them are any good? Right now i'd suggest Burns is a fine squad player and if we are being kind the jury is very much out on the rest.
| Abdul Fatawu on 09:15 - Jul 17 with 524 views | Yppswyche | Rolling my eyes once more at so many people getting their knickers in a twist at what order we manage to do our ins and outs.. Fatawu would be a great signing, I’d suggest perhaps we allow ourselves to get excited about that and wait until the transfer deadline to start jetting out steam from our ears by counting the number of wingers on the books | | | |
