Just completed the signing of Switzerland international defender Aurele Amenda for £17m. That's now three through the door there, including Frank Onyenka and France U21 international Loum Tchaouna. Doing some serious business. £44m already spent.

By contrast, we've just got Emersonn (promising), Akpom (awful) and Kipre (okay back-up).

Certainly not if Argentina are playing, not even after 80 minutes.

3 promotions in 4 seasons.

You're batsh!t.

Yep, they're absolutely ripping it up there, with 2 more in than we have , not including Akpom and Kipre either :)

Seriously?

No club is the same. Some players are easier to get than others. Are you having an Ipswich Town inferiority complex?

We will be targeting our own players that fill the gaps.GON thinks our squad has. Just because another team signs x, y ,z player from x, y, z league doesn't mean we are the lame horse in the flat race.

Poll: Which Manchester team do you dislike the most?

That’s a very fair assessment (at this point)

Leeds and Sunderland, have you seen the business they’ve done? Mind blowing, and this is our competition.

I’d love to know the thought process of the down voters - if we just clap harder we get more points???

Maybe they think their dream of playing Morecombe again is getting closer, because happy clapping abject failure, when it’s so important to our long term future, certainly isn’t support.

The window is still open, and we can’t judge yet, but so far, yes, it’s a continuation of Mark Ashton being about 2/10 at best when it comes to recruiting for this level.

And there are ZERO excuses this time, a recent legacy at this level, years to plan, all the money in the world.

This time it’s a measure of how well he can recruit at this level.., relative to his peers.

Leeds and Sunderland did it, one off the back of the play offs!

So it’s 100% about Mark now. Which of course is what he wanted. If you make it all about ME you have to be scrutinised accordingly.., he wanted to be the only voice in the room, and he is!!

So happy clappers…, how many points are we getting with the claps replacing quality players? 15 points? Maybe worse?

We aren’t getting 22 with the grounds it is. And our most gifted player is leaving - makes you wonder what Ashton did all last year as favourites for promotion and two years to build networks at this level.

He’s clueless. And that isn’t to say he’s not good in the EFL, it’s just the happy clappers haven’t worked out yet we’re not in the EFL. I don’t think they like the scrutiny and competition in the premier league, small minds, they’d rather we played Morecombe than have to compete with the very best in the game.

So nothing new from you then. Same old. Only one word in capitals. I suggest you edit and change a few just to emphasise in case we’ve missed the message about happy clappers, Morecambe, Ashton, Sunderland and Leeds.

Never mind. Not long until your lot participate again. OTBC!

The meltdowns start earlier every year. If this guy is on a freaking out now, imagine what he was like under Evans. Maybe I’m missing the elephant in the room…

Cov started with a good championship squad. Our squad was far better suited to the premier league. Today means nothing, judge us when the window closes.

That's the difference isn't it, under Evans there was zero expectations to win, the mentality of the fan base has changed with the clubs outlined ambitions.

Under Evans when going away games the going to the game got in the way of your day out if you were having a nice afternoon drink with your family and friends, there were some cracking pubs in Accrington.

“squad was far better suited to the premier league”

Seriously?

With Hirst and/or Azon up top

A lightweight Philogene/Clarke and McAteer in the wings

And our back four against PL forwards

How are they “more suited to the PL”?

More likely suited to bettering Derby County’s 11 point record

We did that first time round, didn’t go well.

Hoping our approach this time is much more measured and balanced rather than picking up all and sundry.

There’s not a player in their side I would want in ours, based on talent and attitude.

Trying to be edgy again? Poor look for a Town fan.

GK - same level but pending incomings (likely improved)
RB- marginally worse than Tuanzebe but Tuanzebe rarely available.Furlong decent though and got better and better understanding with O'Shea. - No improvement but expect incomings.
CB - in much better shape then last season as O'Shea and Greaves have 2 years together.
LB - Davis has 2 years more experience then when we started last time. Will be improved.
RM - currently worse. No question Omari improved us and Wes is a bit older. Fully expect big transfer here.
CM - Matusiwa is a superior player to Morsy - Improved
CM - we need 2-3 additions
LM - question marks but Clarke will be much better now then 2 years ago. Mehmeti has prem cable ball ability but lacks the pace I feel. Philogene is very capable. As it stands would be a big improvement and likely will be regardless of Philogene as will replace.
10 - Nunez/Mehmeti/Akpom. In my opinion much better options already then when we started last prem season and I still feel we will bring another in
Strikers - hard to know. Delap was very strong. But we had Al Hamadi playing prem.gsmesnfor a number of weeks in the prem. I believe our forward unit will be an upgrade.

As a squad we have so much more depth and quality. The right 6-7 outfield additions
of real quality should have us in a much better place on paper.

How the team bond is another matter. We haven't hit the same heights in terms of team dynamic. But let's see.

Egeli could be the dark horse this season. Think Prem and a different role would really suit him and I do think we will see a bit of a physical change in him as well over the next 12 months. Might go on loan still but a good pre-season and he might surprise a few.

Poll: Who do we think McKenna (not you) will partner Greaves with ?
