Apologies if that title gave you a horrible image in your head, but this is brilliant. People are starting to wake up, I wonder if the Farage supporters on here will.

I watched a few minutes of some bloke recapping stuff we all know, as if he were a proper tv journalist and got bored.

I didn't know Farage would lose £1m a year from his other income streams by being an MP... a term of which is usually 5 years... which means he'd lose out on £5m - the exact amount he got from a crypto billionaire as a 'gift'.

Yes- its an important point.

The third or fourth change in the position he put forward about the £5m. There is now the suggestion that he was saying that he could not be an MP because of what he'd lose and at around the same time someone gave him money to cover it. Which makes the payment overtly political and disclosable.

Reform's biggest trick currently is trying to make the £5m issue about the payment (which is not inherently illegal or wrong), rather than the failure to disclose (which is).

I found his connecting Nige with Cryptocurrency interesting. He is trying to be a yellow pack Trump and may have come a bit late to the party.

Well, that and if it was indeed a payment towards costs incurred for his work as an MP (security, cover of loss of earnings) then it is taxable. And he did not pay tax on it.

It should be enough to bring him down, but it's clearly the end of a very long and knotted thread of corruption, dishonesty and cosying up to foreign interests (think we used to call that treachery) judging by the volume of evidence doing the rounds.

I dont think thats taxable. It may be to cover it, but its still a gift.

Of course, he has also said it was for security, but wont confirm it was spent on that. And that it was a reward for his work on brexit- which again would be overtly political and disclosable.

What power does he have as an MP though? Not enough to drive through any pro crypto changes.

Crypto isn't going anywhere. Blockchain technology is here to stay.

I imagine it's a longer-term view.

Certainly until this all blew up, he was viewed by many as a Prime Minister in waiting. If he got the keys to No 10, there'd be a significant return on investment for so many of his backers.

Yea, I suppose I am looking at it as an expensive gamble for what was a low chance bet at the time but £5m of £18bn is a rounding error isn't it so I guess it makes sense from a virtually risk free perspective.

I have to say though, if I had £18m, let alone £18bn, I wouldn't be trying to buy power to further my fortune even more. I would be too busy enjoying life. I just find it all incredibly odd. Maybe when you are that rich it actually gets boring living life with the equivalent of cheat codes activated.

At the time he received the payment he owned Reform as it was a private company.

It’s hard to see how you could get more political than actually owning the party.
