Carlos Espi heading to the prem - Any chance it’s Town? 13:00 - Jul 26 with 11728 viewsLitfc00

Rumoured that a premier league side have activated his €25 million release clause. Would be an exceptional signing.

- 6’4
- 21 years old
- Scored 13 goals for a Levante side that finished 16th in LaLiga
- Similar Traits to Emersonn so likely a profile of striker that Town like (Target man / Strong physical attributes)

0% chance this is us, only question is whether it's a big 6 side that's decided he'd be a nice addition to the stockpile or a mid-table team offering him a massive wage increase and a starter role.

Why out of interest. Looks decent but nothing to suggest he'd be anywhere near a bigger clubs radar. Hasn't done much. Would agree some mid to lower prem would be taking a look but I wouldn't say that is an impossible deal.

We wouldn't be favourites maybe but a lot higher than 0% chance.

Serious question, have you heard of this player previously to think he is out of our reaches and is champions league quality in England?

Looking at his profile he was playing second division in Spain last year, not sure what warrants us not being involved at 25m, which seems a large fee for a very unknown 21 year old.

Like most of these players, I have never heard of them being totally honest!

He was playing in La Liga last year, not the second tier.

Young and raw. A bit more experienced than Azon was when we signed him. Both Spanish U21 internationals. I am not sure why we would stand no chance of signing him. If that is the case, we would be shopping in the same market as the likes of Azon wouldn't we? I would suggest it is the level of player we need.

2023 - 2025 he was in the Spanish 2nd league from his profile notes, my oversight.

As I said I don't know anything about these players, if people do then keen to know more.

Seems to have successfully made the step up to the top tier in Spain last season.

If we are unable to sign a player with some experience at the top level in Spain I don't think we are able to get players of the quality we need.

Yes, I'd heard of him. I watch a lot of La Liga (used to have a Rayo season ticket when I lived out there), both full live matches and the good weekly highlights package they have on Disney+ now.

He's off the back of scoring 10 in 13 games to close the season for an awful Levante side. He's big, quick, right up there for duels won, pressing as well. He's absolutely a massive hot property in Spain right now.

Too similar in profile to Emmerson? Young, raw and a bit of a gamble. Will expect us to sign a more experienced option.

Iván had never had a top flight season in Spain and never hit double figures in the second tier.

Espí just hit double figures in La Liga is basically one third of a season.

Yeah I agree, would be a dream signing but Espi will probably get an Aston Villa / Newcastle level move.

It’s also worth pointing out that Spanish release clauses are typically paid in full as one singular payment which makes moving to Town much more unlikely. We would probably want to spread the fee over a few years.

Franculino Dju / Zian Flemming are a couple of others that I would love at Town.

We need experience now I feel. We already have the Brazilian youngster. We don’t need to many raw youngsters to rely on.

I see, well that will get the appetite going should he be on our radar. Make an offer you never know, we would be the perfect club for him to start his PL journey if he is going to get regular starts with us and score a few in his debut season.

He's basically just had half a season like Liam Delap in the first half of 2024-25. So, adjust your expectations accordingly!

Something else to consider - Clara Vista Investment Partners (part owners of Town) are in the process of completing a takeover of Levante. Given it’s a release clause you would imagine it’s persuading the player that’s an issue rather than the terms of the release clause but thought it’s worth flagging!

He was linked with Bournemouth a month or so ago.

For anyone wanting him here, the good news is that he was linked with Strasbourg in May so it could be us.

Though seemingly they can only afford to do a loan this year, so it will likely be someone with ready money
