| 2 weeks after the murder of Ann Widdecombe on 09:50 - Jul 30 by Mullet | Well you did leave all of those things out, because you didn’t think that facts make a difference. That’s a problem and huge weakness on your part as loads of others have demonstrated to you. Interesting you dehumanise posters into a bloc on here because you’ve made a fool of yourself too. Your tone throughout last night and now is arsey and irritable. It’s very clear and telling. There’s a whole gamut of views and beliefs across the collection of people who have tried to engage with you. The idea that correcting you means defending the man in question is the main problem people like you have. Everything is adversarial and binary. You aren’t capable of discussing something because all you want is agreement or the chance to be a victim. I get you’re embarrassed now and trying to deflect from that, but you really need to learn how to present stuff better and engage with it if you don’t want this to keep happening. No wonder Farage et al has such an easy time of it when this is the type of stuff being bandied about. |
I've literally told you how I'm feeling, yet you've decided you know better than me. Strange, but fair enough. In terms of me acting a victim, I'm no victim, in fact I'm from it. No-one owes me anything. If I'm wrong about something, I'll happily own it. If someone has a differing opinion, I'll listen, but wont attack for having it. What does make me laugh though is the sheer self-righteousness from some on here. It's like a few have appointed themselves board royalty, sat there deciding what is the absolute truth, who's a good person, who's angry, who's embarrassed and what everyone else is thinking. Maybe... just maybe... I simply disagree with you. No need for the psychological assessment because someone hasn't reached the same conclusion as you. Which probably explains the whole 'you need to learn how to engage better' line. It's pretty patronising, really, and rather fits with the board royalty point. You're acting as though you've got the blueprint for how discussions should happen on here. I think I'll leave it there. You're convinced you know what I'm thinking, I'm convinced you don't. I don't think either of us is changing the other's mind.

But it’s quite clear you’re lying and dishonest and have been from last night when I wasn’t even here. Your whole posting on this thread shows that. Your attempts to change tact and tone don’t really wash when there’s a handful of posts to other people prior. Why did you rail against people being ignorant of a story and then either leave out so many key details? You’re either dishonest or a hypocrite.

This is nonsense. You posted a story which had nothing to do with the thread because you were upset that it hadn't been posted on the forum. You were selective with the facts and refused to start a thread to discuss it. You then got annoyed when people pointed out you were very selective with the facts. I'm pretty sure you don't post that sentence about the story if the perpetrator was a member of the "indigenous population". I'm still not sure why you posted it given it had nothing to do with what was being discussed although from your subsequent posting I think most can draw their own conclusions. SB

I like how you say you won't attack people for having a differing opinion, and yet all your posts (including this one) seem to be attacking people on here who have a differing opinion.

Again, forum royalty has decided they know my motivations, my feelings and why I posted it. The whole reason I mentioned it was because it feels like whenever there's a story that allows people to pile into the right, or anyone deemed right-leaning, this forum is all over it. Other stories don't seem to generate the same enthusiasm or excitment. You can disagree with that observation, but don't invent motives I haven't given you. As for not starting a thread, I simply don't spend my day refreshing news feeds looking for the next thing to post for uppies and validation from strangers. I saw the story, mentioned it in the discussion, and that was that. Anyway, I'm done on this one but not because you've changed my mind, but because the cavalry has arrived and I genuinely don't have the time to reply to every barbed comment. It seems to end the same way every time anyway, if you don't agree, before long you're being told you're right-wing, what your politics are, and what your motives must be. That's not something I'm interested in engaging with anymore today. Have a belting rest of the day. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

“…allows people to pile into the right…” That’s a bit like the people that say why oh why oh why don’t we have a St Georges Day parade, male pride day, celebrate X, Y or Z. Mate nobody is stopping you posting on atopic, nobody is stopping people that agree with you, agreeing with you. Up your game if you are not happy with one person from a village giving you an uppie.

I do love how the racists, sexists, “just asking questions” lot that always slag twtd off are now being joined by “right leaning” in the notion that you can’t just spew any old sh1t and people will accept it, let alone nod along willingly. It’s almost like there is a connection between the “I’m just right wing” defence, dishonesty and being a scumbag…..and anyone who disputes what they say is some sort of homogeneous enemy.

| 2 weeks after the murder of Ann Widdecombe on 16:38 - Jul 30 with 633 views | The_Major | The Graun has this from someone who at least sounds like they're conversant with the law, but I stand to be corrected. It’s maybe worth pointing out that Section 44 of the Serious Crime Act 2007 abolished the old common-law offence of incitement and replaced it with encouraging or inciting an offence. This requires the prosecution to prove both an act capable of encouraging or assisting an offence; and an intention to encourage or assist its commission. That is, it’s not sufficient to prove that posting the image might, or even probably would, encourage violence against Farage. The prosecution would need to make a jury sure that, when he posted the image, Polanski actually intended to incite someone to try to kill Farage. Section 4 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, soliciting murder, similarly requires an intent to encourage someone to commit the murder. Possibly sharing the image might have constituted sending a menacing communication under section 127 of the Communications Act 2003 but, again, the prosecution would need to prove that, at the time he sent it, Polanski was aware that there was at least a risk the image would create fear or apprehension in any reasonable member of the public who saw it. In other words, the case was a non-starter from the very beginning and Reform must have been aware it was. *********** Probably correct, but it was still a dumb move from Polanski to post it, and yes, he should have apologised because it was obvious Farage et al would exploit it for all that it was worth. Especially as a distraction from £5m and Posh George, and feeding in to their permanent feeling of victimhood. | | | |
