Couldn't really see what they said but 1 was something about Dover and sending them home. Thought it was odd, weather was nice and that's how you choose to spend your Saturday afternoon.

If you're implying what you seem to be implying, you'd be better-served by protecting them from the 'protect are wimmin and gurls' lot, and their proclivities.

From the article you posted: "People in the local area, like most up and down the country, are concerned about unvetted men being placed amongst their communities." Looks like there are some men in these communities that people should worry about, but its not the ones living in that house - clearly the ones 'protesting' outside.

I think that'll be the main entrance to the proposed MOD camp to house immigrants - lots of flags, a gazebo, table and chairs, and usually a few people sipping tea as I pass.

Absolutely, before I read your second paragraph I was going to enquire if your first was referring to reform members, they seem to be full of misogynists and sex pests, it almost seems a requirement to stand.

This is what happens when the likes of farage, lowe and Robinson keep stirring the pot, combined with Starmer's government basically green lighting these types of demonstrations. Not saying for one minute that there aren't sone legitimate concerns around immigration, hmos etc, but stirring up hate and anger only ends one way. [Post edited 7 Aug 11:49]

Totally right. It's also a shame the Labour/Conservative parties are so weak in tackling this from all aspects to the point that these sorts of scenes are becoming the norm. Clarity and organisation over the whole process of illegal immigration is both morally and practically required.

I questioned online why all of the organisers interviewed sounded like East Londoners, but apparently that's how people in Thetford and Barham talk. Who knew, buh.

I think you'll find im culturally allowed to use the word Pikey. Im quite happy to describe myself as a Pikey (the term horrifies many of my parents generation) I can also use the word Tinker, Knacker, Gypo etc You using any of these terms may be quite insulting. For me and my culture it's about ownership of the words that have been used to contain and pigeonhole us for generations

I still hold your lesson closely, re my unwitting use of the word 'tinker' a while back - honestly never knew it was a badun until you told me!

I dont think its quite a clear an insult in England as it is in Ireland. It's probably, along with Knacker the most common derogatory term for Travellers in Ireland. It wrongly alludes to our culture being nothing more then traveling tinsmiths, completely ignoring our true origins in Gaelic Ireland. Like many of these words, it's sometimes used by Travellers to describe themselves. but unlike Pikey, it along with Knacker are terms I don't really use

Thanks for the insight there, Leitrim - I would never have guessed that as being the etymology of 'tinker' in its current use. I'd only ever really known it as a very light-hearted term for someone who's a bit of a scamp, and not really warranting anything more heavy-weight like 'd*ckhead'.
