The number of players, incoming and outgoing that have mentioned the Portman Road atmosphere this summer has been something else, especially given how much we all moan about it.
Does show that on the pitch the sound does travel, it just doesn't travel to the other stands.
IIRC Arnie Slot also mentioned it after the opening game last time up, so not a case of the atmosphere being the new, "amazing training ground". |  |

I thought the atmosphere was shocking for most of last season.

We have to replicate it against Sunderland.
But I have a concern given just how bad it was last season. Lower North seemed disconnected from the season and the wider stands.
Home crowd have to be better if we’re to stand a chance of survival.

I don't think I've ever experienced a better atmosphere at PR than the QPR game last season. It wasn't just the in-game atmosphere, but the noise and emotion during the build-up to the game as well.
I think that, if you get the atmosphere rocking before a ball has even been kicked, that's half the battle won. | |

Atmosphere is the reason I predicted Sunderland and Leeds to stay up. Obviously not the only factor, but it was no surprise to me that Burnely went down. |  |

Poor acoustics is just an excuse IMO.
Portman Road should be an intimidating ground as the stands are close to the pitch. But it isn't because we don't have a vocal fanbase.
Take Portsmouth away last season. The Fratton End roof is much higher than the other stands, but the atmosphere their fans generated that night was electric. | | | |

Move Blue Action into the Lower North (and I’m sure that the atmosphere will increase.
I agree with you that the poor acoustic excuse is just, well an excuse.
At PR, three of the stands seat in relative silence and then complain if the SBR stand fails to make any noise. That’s the problem and has been for a long time. |  | | |
