I get that, that's why it isn't clear what our plan is. 20m is a lot for a player to be a back up. But it would mean kicking O'Shea from the RB position he's occupied in preseason. | |

£17m for a player who the manager is familiar with, who can cover 4 or 5 positions around the pitch (and won't count towards squad numbers because he's U21) - seems like there is plan there.
As for kicking O'Shea, regardless of who we sign this week I think we'll start the Sunderland game with the same back 4 and goalie as the Berlin game, rather than start tinkering. | |

it's a mad shift isn't it! egeli was the signing for me that most signified the change.
it was a signing that we didn't *need* to make to get promoted, but a deal that *could* be done and had to be done there and then. wasn't expecting anything from him last year (although those 4 goals turned out to be gold dust in terms of getting us promoted!)
