Really impressive signing.

I’m convinced they’re staying up now.

Now need to find three other clubs to make sure we’re better than.

Is it though?

It's the sorta signing we would have made in 24/25

He may have physical attributes but over the last 2/3 years he's been injury prone and does not strike me as a prolific striker

If he was that good someone better than cov would have snapped him up

If they can find a way to transfer that confidence that they've had in the championship from winning every week, combine it with a manager who has experience of this level and add the signings they've brought in this summer, I think they've got a real chance of finishing 18th.

Really....? on 18:49 - Aug 17 with 1713 viewsBloots

....he's scored about 20 goals over 4 seasons in the Prem.

If we'd have signed him the fans would be taking to the streets waving burning pitchforks.

He would have been useful in the championship. But has suffered with injuries last three seasons the type of player we need to stay away from we have made those mistakes in the past.

Yep, the injury prone striker discarded by a relegation rival will surely make the difference and ensure Coventry’s survival.

To be fair a lot of fans laughed at Leeds when they got the injury prone Dominic Calvert-Lewin last season and he cost Leeds £0.

I certainly would be more than happy if we had Calvert-Lewin here this season.

The cost of a player doesn't always equal what you ultimately get from a player.

Yes, £17m for an injury prone 29 year old striker is some going.

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

Signing on a free is different, in today's market especially strikers,if there was any other interest he'd be going for more than 9m.
Hirst is supposedly around 10m and he's
deemed not good enough here as our no3!

As a matter of interest, what is it about this signing that convinces you Coventry are definitely staying up (which kind of implies you thought they might not have done without him)?

Or, to phrase the same question in a different way, if we had just signed this same player would it have convinced you we were definitely staying up (since your "now need to find three other clubs to make sure we're better than" suggests you think we might not having "missed out" on this outstanding signing?

So glad we have another thread about Awoniyi, was just thinking earlier that the three so far were not really enough....

But he was only free because his contract had expired. Any club could have reached an agreement as he headed towards the end of it, but they weren't queueing up because of his injury record. Everton were trying to sell him in the Jan and didn't have any takers.
You're arguement is if clubs aren't fighting for a player out biding each other it demonstrates the player isn't any good

A striker who only one club really wanted on a free who ended up scoring 14 PL goals. You could argue Sunderland were ripped off spending £20m on Brobbey as he only scored 7.
Hence my point what you spend on a player doesn't always equal what you get.

He's not really set the world alight so far and as others have said he's been unlucky with injuries. Hamer feels a backwards step, I'm not convinced by Cov but the media love Frank and that's why they view their chances higher.

Ok enough squad striker for a struggler but ... I think you may be overstating how good he is.
