If we pulled this off I’d get ‘Ashton 1’ on the back of my home shirt.

Big if, but if there is anything in this, i hope we do a very thorough medical on his knees - 2 bad knee injuries (in 22/23 and in Jan 25 -out for nearly a year with cruciate ligament tear), and several other minor knee injuries over the last 4 years. Following the cruciate injury started 10 games, then mainly used as a sub).

I'm pretty certain we do thorough checks on all potential signings. All footballers get injured at some stage.

of course we do, but as i said i hope it is very thorough as a cruciate is one of the big nasty injuries.

I have faith in our medical team after they pulled the plug on the Broja transfer due to medical concerns. Turned out to be the right decision.

That is a great point re us pulling plug on Broja.

I was reading info from arsenal fans on Jesus where they were thinking six months ago that no club would pay money to sign him based on his wages and his injury record and they could only see him going out on loan - a loan, with a commitment to buy, based on staying up, min number of starts I would be very happy with

Or the goalkeeper maybe? Jesus saves...but the devil nets the rebounds.

Could develop a cult following if he signs.

There's no question, if you could guarantee he stayed fit and be able to afford his wages, he'd be an asset to the majority of PL clubs, still just 29 ( not 30 till next April ). As with quite a few though, once again you're in " if and but " territory.

As a newly promoted team if and but territory is the only way to afford luxury quite often.

Exhibit A, kalvin Phillips.
