It is effectively a reserve game. I can see the logic of using this competition just for squad fitness but it kills the game as a spectacle for us fans. It’s mind numbing mediocrity for a supposed competitive match. |  |

Every year, for about 20 years, people make the same inane comments about how worrying the results and performances are in this competition. I've put stats out there showing zero correlation between how far teams go in this competition and their league success. Even a cursory look at our own recent history will show us losing to Colchester in the first round, and still getting promoted. It's like people are incapable of logical reasoning. |  |
