Fabian's goal in the home game against Man U. Naylor's pull down, Clapham's cross and Marcus' movement then header for our third in the play-off final. Talking of Marcus - those goals away at Bolton in the play-off semi first leg. Not sure you'll have a video of this but when Blackburn fans sang "Stand up if you've won the league" - in my memory at least pretty much the whole of PR stood up and sang it back at them. Loved that.
(Just as an aside but iconic for me, my frustrated young son once shouted "Shoot, Magilton!" from our seats in the Pioneer whereupon the elderly and until then I thought snooty lady a couple of rows in front turned round and said, "Well I don't think he's playing THAT badly." Much merriment ensued and a treasured moment for dad.)
So many, like Magilton’s third against Bolton, Reuser scoring the fifth in the same match, Reuser at Wembley, Sarmiento’s late one and Philogene against Norwich.
But I also really enjoyed the interview with Kayden Jackson on the pitch after promotion. He was so humble and at a time he could have been getting lost in the moment he took the time to thank those who had got him to this point. He accepted that might be as far as he could go with the club but showed no regrets or bitterness - he epitomized everything positive that the club had become. Just a great moment amongst the chaos of promotion.
Gavin Johnson’s thunderbolt of a header at Liverpool still gives me goosebumps. (Fantastic limbs that night, too, before we even knew what limbs were).
Sarmiento stumbling, poking and scoring was pure cinema .
Latterly, KM fighting back the tears in his farewell video. 💙
22/4/81 in Cologne having likely surrendered the league over the previous easter weekend (apart from an almost unlikely twist on the last weekend that was still to come) Butcher scored against the Germans to almost guarantee progress and Bobby F was celebrating like mad on the touchline and nudging a clearly still disappointed Bobby R to join in, which he finally did with a fantastic smile breaking out on his face. Will always remember that.
