| We are definitely staying up 20:46 - Oct 18 with 3620 views | AlpineBlue | It's not even November, so it's way too early to be so confident, but after all the results up to now, I'm already convinced. I think we've ridden our luck, and have even looked poor for large portions of the games we have won. Nevertheless, there are a lot more than 3 teams worse than us. Hull are running out of steam and haven't won since August. Fulham look poor, Bournemouth and Palace don't look up to much, Sunderland are atrocious and we have been better than Coventry since about November 2025. One or two of those teams might change manager and improve, we will certainly have a bad run of defeats, but I simply cannot believe that 4 of those teams finish ahead of us. Especially when we have beaten 5 of them in the last 12 months and 3 of them already this season. Genuinely believing that we're going to survive is going to make watching games much more enjoyable. We might lose to Forest, but it won't feel like the end of the world, and if we get a win, then one starts to ask, how high can we finish. | | | | |

You’re not sure if we’re mathematically safe yet? Spoiler alert - nobody is yet lol I’m ugly enough to remember us winning about 7 or 8 on the bounce over Christmas and January in 2001-02, being comfortably mid table and everyone thinking we’d turned the corner and would only push on from there. We only won one more match and ended up relegated. We’re in a great spot and long may it continue, but a long way to go yet.

Don't forget all the teams below us have to play each other! Anyway, zero chance we are going down now so I want no more talk on the matter.

| We are definitely staying up on 09:32 - Oct 19 with 620 views | JammyDodgerrr | I think it's clear that we probably won't have a better chance to stay up than this season, several teams in a little bit of a bad place and we've started well. We've won the games we need to and lost the games we probably should do - that's a positive. We're also scoring goals in pretty much every game, which is another big positive. We just need to keep our heads down and keep accumulating points where we can. It's hard to believe a team like Spurs will stay down the bottom but i guess they have finished 17th two years in a row! I still think there is lots for GON to work on, but you cannot deny the group have confidence and it feels different to last time, but the season is long. For what it's worth, i do think we will stay up, and it will probably be Coventry/Sunderland/Hull(or bournemouth/palace) that go down, but i would still expect it to be close. | |

| We are definitely staying up on 08:56 - Oct 19 by Swansea_Blue | Silly talk at this stage of the season. We’ve got a lot more about us this time around and given ourselves a much better chance, but there’s a long way to go and if th fine margins go the other way you can get into trouble quickly. |
Agree with this. The winter period is starting to come upon us and this is where it gets interesting. We’ve had a good start, but the games we have won have been a bit of a coin toss. It’s doesn’t take much for them to turn into defeats and this is a tough league.

Whilst I don't want to get ahead of myself we seem to have better tools to compete this time around and our bench as has been proven can actually make a difference this time around. Fleming instead of AAH for example demonstrates a very stark difference. Having Matusiwa as cover is also a very noticeable difference.
| We are definitely staying up on 09:52 - Oct 19 with 563 views | Guthrum | I wouldn't yet say we're definitely staying up. However, we are certainly in a good position to do so. The team is visibly competitive, even when facing the current unstoppables. Moreover, we are getting the results to go along with that - and wins rather than just draws. There is good team spirit - as evidenced by late goals, even in losing causes - plus growing coordination and confidence. The next dozen results are what will give our true direction of travel. The team has shown it can perform at this level, they now need to show they can keep it up over an extended period. | |

I honestly can't see Sunderland or Crystal Palace getting more than 30 points. They might change managers, but the problem is that their squads look weak. Hull are now starting to look like the team they were predicted to be, and remind me a lot of us last time out, and I've always found Coventry and Lampard overrated and their squad is thin to say the least.their summer business was crap. We are going to need to have a real crisis to fall behind those teams. We have a decent squad, who all seem to be good characters pulling in the same direction. Fitness levels are first class and we will make a couplenof useful additions in January. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

We're also better than Fulham, Forest, Newcastle and Bournemouth, so I would expect a 8th-12th place finish. Ideally we can push into that top 7.

| We are definitely staying up on 14:21 - Oct 19 with 440 views | Vic | I was hugely encouraged by last Saturday - I had prepared myself for a tonking, and for long periods in the first half I was expecting things to get ugly. But it didn't happen and in the 2nd half we played really well. Great cause for hope. But really it's games like Forest at home that will tell us far more. Beat them and a pattern starts to emerge of us taking points off other teams like us - which we need to do but just couldn't do regularly enough 2 years ago. Like others have said, 5 or 6 pts over the next couple of weeks will really cement confidence going forward - in the players and hopefully in us fans as well. | |

| We are definitely staying up on 16:47 - Oct 19 with 378 views | Joey_Joe_Joe_Junior | Fulham look quite good to me. We beat them, great sign but the idea that a lot of these clubs will just stay in a poor run of form is probably false, they haven't looked terrible and have had a big change at the club. It's encouraging for sure but we have come up on the right side of the fine margins so far, we are likely to get a kick in the nuts soon. Get 4 or 6 points in the next 2 and we can talk! | |

| We are definitely staying up on 17:04 - Oct 19 with 355 views | greyhound | We've done remarkably bit this is a league that's very often won and lost on the last day of the season. I enjoy the confidence this team brings to us all. I fell out of love with the game the last time we were in the premier and were hopelessly spanked every week. It feels so different now | | | |

The next six games are winnable. None of them have more points than us.

At the moment we look a bit better than them, but those are teams I would expect to show a bit more through the season. If we finish 17th, I'd be delighted but think we have the potential to make 13th or 14th. Then we are in a great position to kick on and over the coming years we only need look at Brighton to see what can be achieved.

Think you should stick to following the croquet and boat racing or whatever else they play in Wallingford
