• Wild Animals: Monkeys are not domesticated; even when hand-raised from birth, they retain wild instincts and can become aggressive, bite, or lash out unexpectedly. • Complex Social Needs: Most species live in large family groups or troops in the wild. Keeping a single monkey in a home deprives it of vital social interaction, leading to severe psychological distress, depression, and self-mutilation. • Diapers and Sanitation: Intelligent monkeys like capuchins or macaques almost never learn to use a toilet and must wear diapers for their entire 20-to-40-year lifespans. They also scent-mark by rubbing their bodies and waste over furniture and cages. • Exorbitant Costs & Housing: They require massive, specialized enclosures, custom fresh/foraging diets, high ambient room temperatures (often needing homes kept above 75°F), and specialized exotic veterinary care that is difficult and costly to find. • Legal and Health Risks: Many jurisdictions ban private primate ownership. Furthermore, certain species (like macaques) carry dangerous zoonotic diseases such as the Herpes B virus, which can be fatal to humans.

I once posted on here that cats were better than dogs.
I apologise for my stupidity.
Over the last few years dogs have shot up my favourite animals list and are now, at the very least, in the Champions League places along with giraffes, penguins and monkeys.
Dolphins, turtles and horses in the Europa League places.
Parrots, koalas and sloths finish off the top half.

Dogs have owners, cats have staff.
Cats are far better than dogs (exception being working ones like police, guide/hearing/sensory dogs etc).
