New scapegoat 18:53 - Oct 31 with 2077 viewsbackwaywhen

I see we well and truly have a new scapegoat for the season , guess what keepers let goals in at any level in world football , the sooner some on here grasp that fact the better .

Ps Walton saved us from losing 3-2 today , superb save to stop that effort creeping inside the far post , well done Walton .

Oh be quiet

The shot was going wide
He flapped at crosses first half. Stayed on goal line 2nd
Nowhere near first goal. Didnt even narrow the angle.
Missed the freekick goal

Scapegoat no. Just a championship keeper playing a level he shouldnt be.
But hes a lovely gut and a champ club will love him 2nd half of season.

There’s more unnecessary spaces in your post than the left hand side of Walton’s goal second half!

Philogene seems to be getting more stick than Walton.

Exactly but that’s allowed apparently. Watch the last 5 goals we have conceded away from home and tell me if our keeper should do better with any of them? I’d argue he should with most!

Make a schoolboy error and there’ll be criticism. It’s not scapegoating.

Jesus Frimmers, 'Oh be quiet'?

You'd be launching in to a poster who responded to you in that way.

The good news is that the quality of the scape goat goes up each season.

I personally felt Walton has done OK, Kjell worried me shi*less
I'm more concerned when O'Shea backs off and let's people get 8 yds from goal to shoot .

Make mistakes, get criticism, that is not scapegoating. This is not Sunday league it’s top flight professional football, therefore they should be held to higher standards and fewer basic errors.

I got home to Sheffield about an hour ago

All I’ll say on today’s game with regards to the keeper is that where I was situated in the away end I could see there was a clear route from the ball to exactly where McBurnie placed it

It’s either the wall wasn’t lined up correctly or Walton thought it was going over the wall

Was really odd goal and so obvious from my vantage point

That said , we’ve got what we’ve got and I still believe we’re playing our best keeper ….at present

I noticed that also, a clear line of sight. I wasn't surprised when it went in.

Walton was poor today unfortunately. He never has been PL quality. But he tries. Some good saves. We need better to survive though. Today wasn’t good for him. Anyone can see that. Amd of course Walton will know that.

When McBurnie lined up that free kick I bet he felt like a chess player who watches the opponent’s move and thinks ‘but surely if I just put it there, it’s check mate?’ but can’t quite believe it.

Why? Keep going and dropping points with walton? how is that better than actually trusting the keeper you signed in the summer.

There’s was more than just Walton wrong today Frimmers

Watching the actual game as opposed to on the box always offers a better perspective as we’ve discussed before

I’m not for one minute accusing Walton of being good bad or indifferent here. It’s not my job to pick the team. My only comment on THAT goal was as I’ve mentioned. There was a clear route to goal as the finish from McBurnie showed. Was so obvious before it was taken from where I was sat

I’m too tired to argue with you tonight mate

As I’ve said I’m simply making comment on that free kick goal , that’s all

And those other errors have been discussed on other threads. This Op and your comment was about the keeper.

No need to argue.

I just want us to stay up. And to do that we need a keeper who can claim crosses and save shots that arent directly at them.

20 yards out. If you cant hit a ball on target from there with a free pass then you shouldnt be getting thousands a week. Lol
