Oh it'll happen and be like Spain...

Spoke to a guy on the plan ( ooo daring ) on my way to Real 2 Atletico 0 a few years ago. Ronny free kick. Also went to Getafe vs a Malaga side with Isco / Joaquin / Saviola the same weekend.

Anyway, he was a Vallodolid fan and said Real / Barca get 80% of the $$$, and the other 18 sides in La Liga get 20% shared. Straight away wanted Atletico to win the game that night.

Utter joke the modern game. I mean I'm 31 so not that old but hate how it's going.

No semblance of looking at the bigger picture from the 'big 6'. As stated in the article, even though the knock on effects for the likes of us and the England team isn't good, they need to buy good players to give the TV a good competitive game if not the whole things gets boring.

Quite frankly the other 14 need to get together with the Championship and just go and form their own league and TV deal and let the others piss off . See how they get on.

Unfortunately, they are looking at the bigger picture

Their bigger picture is that they need as much money as possible to compete with the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona et al and at the moment they are at a disadvantage in not getting a large share of the pot. Whilst this type of greed is beginning to see interest in football at home start to wane, the global audience now far outstrips this, with the big 6 having huge fan bases across Asia and beyond. However their support is likely to be fickle - fail to stay at the top and they'll most likely move on and follow someone else

We all know that a European Super League is only a matter of time - and to be honest the sooner it happens the better

European Super League - the sooner it happens the better - Why?

Rewind to around 1990 and change the above to Premier League - the sooner it happens the better. Was it?

Your post sums up the deep rooted bias towards the big clubs for me.....

Ronaldo scores a free kick and it automatically counts as two goals because of who he is/who he plays for. It's all wrong.

The Champions League was meant to park any idea of a European Super League - but the big clubs wanted more. So the CL was expanded but still they want more and they will always want more and more.

If the European Super League was to ever happen then I will not be interested in it at all. To be honest I can't remember the last time I watched a Champions League game live on telly.

I have no interest in the Champions League either, but isn't this a bit like saying 'I have no interest in watching the Premier League and am quite happy following the Championship instead'. I know some people say that

The dream of getting to the Premier league is nothing like the reality. Apart from one freak season when Leicester did the impossible, there are three clubs challenging for the title, three more trying to make the fourth place spot for Champions league and two or three more trying to get into the Europa league. All the other clubs are just trying to stay in the league for another season, no hope of winning anything, just staying on the merry go round to keep bringing in the millions of pounds to pay their ever increasing wage bill to say in the Premier league. Not so much a dream anymore, more like a recurring nightmare.

Why those clubs have more money won't be solved by giving the 'Big 6' more, it will be by them guaranteeing a CL place every season so they can have a steadier cashflow each season and attract the best players.

Even if it is split to the top 6, it still won't change fact there are only 4 CL sides from England each year (Except if one wins EL) and 6 into 4 doesn't go.

Real, Barca, PSG, Bayern, Juve will qualify for CL every season - nailed on. So they can manage their squads to have a good tilt at it. When English clubs were succesful in the Champions League it was when Liverpool, Man U, Arsenal and Chelsea qualified every year - before the emergence of Spurs and the money hitting Man City.

And, when all is said and done - the PL is still far more popular than the CL

The sooner they go off to play with their European friends and leave the rest of us to get on with things, the better.

Because it's a folly. We aren't going to be in it, no chance in the forseeable future. But we are also not going to be able to compete for the forseeable.

The Leicester success a year ago is a once in 30/40 years event, a Halley's Comet event. Nothing has fundamentally changed, the Top 6 (maybe 3/4) will win 90% of titles over the next 20 years, the rest of us will measure success by getting into the top league and winning 10 games in a season. It's screwed.

Let the Top 6 leave the English league, the money will come down (fine), but it will be more sustainable, we will have a chance of competing, we'll essentially end up with the kind of competitive league we had in the Sixties, Seventies, Eighties. Good. That would be better for all clubs outside of the Top 6.
