We can discuss “faith” as in the fact I have faith in science... this is however not the same as religious faith. I have faith in science progressing is because there is a long history of it continuing to do this, so there it’s evidence based trust rather than faith. He's alluding to the fact that there is no evidence for the existence of a deity other than a lack of evidence to the contrary. Thus, to be an atheist, you must make a leap of faith that there is no God. Hence why many people who don't believe in God will declare themselves agnostics as opposed to atheists. |  | | |

I'm smart enough to realise I don't know everything, but if you pen yourself as agnostic, that lack of any faith whatsoever will get you nowhere fast...
Can you be an agnostic atheist? Possibly, that's a sensible position in a normal world full of information on which to base a thought process based on common sense and rational thinking surely, but then you've lost faith.
