...tomorrow as Princes Street is being closed.

They must think it’s some sort of derby.

It’s not.

Yes, but a few people had a few too many beers in the sun back in August which provides an excuse for this kind of reaction/massive chunk of overtime.

I was wondering if they will be putting their coaches in the Portman Road car park, if so that will take a chunk of an always busy car park away.

I remember a home game against them a few years back a load of their fans were singing ‘We’re Peterborough we’ll do what we want’ whilst being escorted back to the station past the Drum & Monkey.

This was probably about 1pm.

If we’re thinking of the same incident I think that was Newcastle fans!

Nor was Leeds.

I expect plod have info that there will be a far higher number of away fans that most games - so they are getting things ready early on, that's all

There have been some niggles, nothing major, between Town and Peterborough when we've been in the same division in the last decade. I think most of it stemmed from a pre-season friendly when one of their lot came off worse.

Since then, there has been a heavy police presence when we go up there and subsequently vice-versa. Not a lot to my knowledge has happened, just an increase in lads on a day out and police taking precautions.

That pre-season excitement was in 2004 - 16 years ago.

Other than more lads on the beer than usual, I'm not sure what the fuss is about.

It's about police overtime and racking up hours, is what it's about.

Didn't it get a bit lively when Town played there in the FA Cup in 1972? (Older readers only).

Not heard that one.

Chelmsford the next year was certainly interesting a year later from what I have been told in the past.

I went to this one and was blindsided as soon as I passed through the turnstile. I'm sure there was some sort of pitch invasion from Town fans early on or just before the game started. I think, because a large group were in the opposite end to where the bulk of Town fans were. Certainly a little feisty that day!

didn't the police just wait at the local estate pubs in Ipswich to arrest everyone when they returned, as opposed to doing it in Chelmsford as it was easier? lol, brilliant if true

Yes, I was at Chelmsford that day. It was an opportunity for Town's finest to rough up an unsuspecting non-league club & they grabbed it with both fists, including trashing the local Woolworths.

Dunno, some of our more melty fans seemed quite desperate to turn it into some sort of rivalry when the who Bolton complaint thing came about...

I was there that day but I don't remember anything out of the ordinary off the pitch, which is not to say that nothing happened.

I remember MI MIC MICK MICK HILL getting one of our goals, Colin Viljoen got the other one.

Usual dilemma faced by the police I imagine.

I would guess they are working on some sort of intelligence but if they police it meaningfully and nothing happens they are accused of being heavy handed. If they don’t and it all kicks off they will be accused of not doing their job.

Damned if they do and damned if they don’t!

They do have a few lads turn up for certain matches, Lincoln at home was eventful before the game and with the numbers they're bringing tomorrow they'll certainly be amongst that lot..

Yes, but a few people had a few too many beers in the sun back in August which provides an excuse for this kind of reaction/massive chunk of overtime.

The hoo-ha didn't involve Peterborough at all though. It was Newcastle fans coming back from Norwich.

I see no logic in this nonsense.

Still it does offer the opportunity to give it large to the away fans whilst being tucked safely away behind a line of Old Bill. Might be fun.

Don't boil a kettle on a boat.
