Not an ITFC goal but the Leighton Baines sticks in my mind as was right behind it - the ball struck so cleanly and seemed to freeze in time before accelerating like a sonic boom!

Probably the best goal ever scored at Portman Road.

Didn’t he very nearly repeat it a few mins later - the only difference being the shot being dead centre to the keeper???

Remember that well. So cleanly hit that there was absolutely no spin on the ball - you could see the markings on the ball not moving whatsoever.
The ITFC goal that always sticks in my mind was the one by Fabian Wilnis against Man Utd in our first home game following promotion. Went into the game expecting a thrashing and left thinking perhaps the season could be something special.

I was right behind the goal when this flew in. Lovely strike.

I can remember hundreds of goals from 20-30 years ago clearer than most from this season.
But the one most ingrained in my mind is also a Gavin Johnson goal, his header to equalise at Anfield in the FAC in 1992. We were right behind the goal behind the entrance tunnel and I can remember thinking, "it's past Grobelaar, it's under the bar - bloody hell, it's in!".
v Wolves at the fag-end of the 70's (last home game of '79?). Terry Butcher header in the second half. Nothing actually that special other than one of the first goals I ever saw 'live'.
For me personally one goal will always remain my no.1 and nothing is going to beat it. Just like ITFC_Forever above this is Gavin Johnson's equaliser against Liverpool back in 1992 and thousands of Town fans celebrating behind the goal. Seen this goal hundreds of times, never got bored with that and never will.
Titus Bramble's long run and goal against Sunderland during 1-0 win back in 2000/01 is another one that'll stay with me for life.
Both Marcus Stewart goals against Bolton in the play-off game at Reebok back in 2000 too.

I liked our red nets in the 70's, always though our 81' goals looked good when the red striped ball went in. changed to the 'continental' style for 81-82, stopped any Alan Hudson/Clive Allen type no goal awards. never liked that white stick set up in 93'. WTF was all that about. Now goals are homoginzed by FIFA. i could identify a ground by its goals as a kid. TWTD. Hampden Parks' were oded. Very deep..

My memory may not be correct, but didn't Rob Chandler get in trouble for this goal?
In that at Half Time he said something over the tannoy along the lines of "It shouldn't have been a corner but come on let's turn it around".
Anyone able to verify?

It was the first goal of the game & we had missed some good chances early on. I do remember some squabble over the corner. This was a game which came in the middle of our good run of League form, although that was a decent City side. It was also notable for a 10 minute cameo from Ulrich Le Pen, 2 moths after his ill fated debut. Did he get inured again or was he just considered a bit rubbish by GB?
Paul Mariner, Dec 4 1976 versus Liverpool at Portman Road. Fabulous header past Ray Clemence. 35k in ground. Great goal by my all time favourite player. More recently, Carlos Edwards at Derby in 2013. Bloke next to me predicted Edwards would score a late winner a few minutes before it happened. I said I'd kiss him if it happened. When it did, a screamer from 20+ yards in added on time , I looked at him in sheer amazement. The fear on his face said it all!

I was in Churchmans virtually in line with it. It was an absolute rocket. For opposition an honerable mention to Dalglish’s posted on here the other day.
ITFC goals at PR: Kevin Beattie’s against WBA in the 7-0 hammering. At the time it looked like the keeper ducked out of the way of it. Bryan Gunn’s airkick. I laughed - funniest thing I ever saw at a football match.
ITFC goals on an away ground: Wark crashing one in at about 4-1 at Millwall in the FA Cup when the game was won. The main riot had already taken place but it was still kicking off everywhere and we were wondering about our escape plan. Mr Wark didn’t help at all! Best goal on a neutral ground: Woods v Leeds 1975 at Filbert Street. We were in the tiny little stand behind the goal the ball sailed into.
