The truth is that in the UK, only around 300 healthy people aged under 60 have died of COVID-19. This doesn't mean that the other deaths don't matter, just that a more viable, sustainable policy is for vulnerable citizens to be advised to shield while the majority try to get on with their lives, which will allow the economy to recover and stem the huge number of job losses and the associated misery. I do still find some of the recent policy decisions baffling, but one can argue about the detail for ever. |  |
