Returning to a former club... 23:05 - Sep 15 with 3553 viewsMarshalls_Mullet

Bales potential return to Spurs got me thinking, it's never quite as good when players return. I was trying to think of players weve have at the club for more than one spell;

Wark
Dyer
Wright
Scowie
J Dozzell
Walters
Pablo
Ambrose

I haven't counted Murphy's numerous loans.

Most of our list would have been better off not returning. I must've missed a few...??

George Burley did OK in his second stint.

Most of ours come back when their career is coming to an end. Bale, if he's motivated, would be huge for Spurs.

Truly impaired.

Agreed re ours.

Wasn't saying Bale won't be good, just got me thinking about our players.

I do think it will be difficult for Bale to live up to the standards he set in his first spell though.

He's 31 and lazy. I can't see it going well either.

Kane likes a round of golf though so at least they will be able to do that!

He never seems that lazy when playing for Wales. If Spurs or Utd can get him motivated and firing he's still top drawer.

Like this. Permies only then yes?

Tommy Miller's 2nd spell here was great (If allowed to include him being a youth with us?) 3rd spell also ok.

I don't think Bale is lazy at all. He's downed tools which is never good but I can't think of a player being treated much worse. (Obviously he's being paid a lot of money to be treated dreadfully but as a guy that wants to play football he's only human and it would effect anyone). Real are a very strange club sometimes.

Can't believe I missed him.

Would only really count 2nd and 3rd spells though.

Wouldn't count Bart as he didn't make an appearance first time.

Having seen Wark in all his variations he'd be top of my list. Obviously incredible for us initially but subsequently good in so many roles, he was just so versatile.

What happened with him? Did he re-register as a player while he was coaching?

I agree.
Beckham had a rough patch with them too.
Real have hired managers that seem to treat some players badly. If the player was black you'd say it was blatant racism.
Real scuppered Bales move to China for reasons that in hindsight seem to be more spite than anything else.
So Bale has a justified grievance and Real have to pay him his 15m salary.
I don't blame Bale one bit.

If counting returning after have been in the yoofs, then ALB is on the list. Which gives the team of returnees strength in depth in the goalkeeping department.

The complete list, excluding:
- Players who only made a first-team appearance in one of their spells
- Players whose loan spells became permanent
- Players with multiple, near-continuous spells (ie Stephen Henderson, Will Keane, Luke Varney)

Darren Ambrose
Jack Colback
Pablo Counago
Ray Crawford
Kieron Dyer
Jason Dozzell
Jordan Graham
Shefki Kuqi
Alan Lee
Tommy Miller
Daryl Murphy
Andy Petterson
James Scowcroft
Jonny Williams
Roger Wosahlo
Richard Wright
Jon Walters
John Wark

I think we can all agree that Jordan Graham sets the standard here.
