I think it changed to 7.45 around the early - mid 80's from memory - although I stand to be corrected. The extra 15 mins was to give people more time to sort themselves out after work.

Well you may have a problem. At some stage the battery will expire and you could miss the game because you don't know the time. Best to stick with tried and trusted clockwork mechanics. You can't beat a wind up.

I think you’re right: seem to recall reading something from the club in the programme in the early to mid 80s about switching to 7:45 giving people more time to get to Portman Rd after work. Which makes sense as a large percentage of Town fans don’t live in Ipswich

7.45pm Kick Offs on 21:27 - Sep 29 with 1683 views | Nthsuffolkblue | Why those three options? Why don't we kick off at 7.53 or 7.37 and 30 seconds? EFL evening matches seem to tend to be 7.45 but with a few teams favouring 8.00 instead. Without crowds a lot of teams went to 7.00 which potentially reduced floodlight usage in April/May.

Some European games tonight , admirably so in Italy and elsewhere kicked off at 5.45pm our time and I’d presume 6.45pm there’s ? Or are they 2 hours ahead but anyway if it’s only an hour that’s very early

7.45pm Kick Offs on 22:12 - Sep 29 with 1504 views | BloomBlue | They use to kick off a lot earlier until floodlights were introduced and I thought 7:45 was because of TV. Must TV shows run 30 or 60 mins, so 7:45 gave TV companies to finish at 7:30 and 15 mins to chat/get ready for kick-off, plus the 7:45 gave some minutes leeway before the next program at 10pm

7.45pm Kick Offs on 01:58 - Sep 30 with 1228 views | ClareBlue | It was brought in to ensure the half time adds were prime time adds after 8.30 and the schedule finished before 10pm when a different schedule ran. For television originally, then all followed, but some still do not if there is a reason.
7.45pm Kick Offs on 02:04 - Sep 30 with 1226 views | ClareBlue | and this will be a surprise to us footie fans, but fans getting to and from a match was never a consideration for kick off times. I know, this is shocking for all us fans, but apparently fans are not a consideration for elite clubs or TV schedules, who would have guessed?
