I’m not arguing with your point, as I think it’s valid, however, I think it has helped make another point even clearer. This being that a change of system and abandoning ‘Project one up front’ which is now being shown to be more of a failure than most of us were saying for ages.
If you look back at the start of 2019/20 when we were consistently starting the Norwood/Jackson pairing and the number of goals they were scoring, it seems ludicrous that they haven’t been given that sort of run together since.
Yes, Parrott has looked better the last few games, having put that second game for us behind him, but I do wonder how much opportunity we’ve missed by not reinstating the Norwood/Jackson pairing when they’ve both been fit. |  |

Don’t think anyone has argued with you that but you presumably accept that goals are an essential part of winning and Jackson, given the freedom to play in a role he is suited for, is a goal scorer.

Parrott has been instrumental in our change of fortunes. The intensity he brings with his work rate alone is worth his place in the side. He works well with Norwood and just seems to get what his role is. Clearly a good football brain.
Like any young player he is sometimes a bit wasteful in possession. Bound to be a bit raw. That, along with goals, will come soon I’m sure. Definitely a bright prospect for the future and more than good enough to be a fixture in our team this season.
When either he or Norwood need a rest then Jackson is the next best option. It’s crazy that he has been exiled. No one is gaining from that situation. |  | | |

Though Jackson as a goal scorer has done more at this level, which is a key attribute for a striker. We really need him back from the cold for the Fleetwood game to take Norwood’s place. Not to dismiss Parrott’s return here, who has done very well. | |

Certainly, Jackson should be that option from the bench and should be that alternative, ahead of Sears, Drinan and Hawkins. Hopefully, the new manager will see this for himself. [Post edited 28 Feb 2021 12:09]

I see him a bit like a Scowcroft, who was never prolific, but a very clever partner for whoever he was playing alongside that often reaped the benefit, getting the goals. | |

If we get promoted it's not impossible that Spurs leave him here another season - to learn at a higher level?
I think he's been good for us. Surprisingly good with his back to goal. It's his attacking movement rather than his finishing that's reducing his threat as a goalscorer I'd say. Isn't missing a stackful of clear cut chances, but just isn't getting in the position very often. Maybe, that'll come? Even if it doesn't think he'll be a useful player. |  |

It's pretty predictable that the team has looked better with 2 up front in a 4-4-2, with the defenders not tw*tting about, and the midfielders not holding hands with the centre-backs.
I'm sure Parrott will be a decent player for some other club in a few years, but most clubs in League One would love to have Norwood and Jackson up front,and if those two stayed fit for a season, and the rest of the team was set up right, we'd win promotion. |  | | |

I thought he struggled to get into the game in the first half yesterday but was better after halftime. Agree that his all round game in very good, think a goal would give him more confidence too.
Him and Bennetts have added a lot in the last two matches even if both are still a bit raw. |  |

He’s another one that does so much running. I had a friends log in yesterday so caught all but the first half an hour and was really impressed with Parrott out of possession, he works hard, proper grafter which is what you need at any level and has the quality when he has the ball. Sometimes tries to do a little too much and his decision making lets him down but he has a lot of potential and his attitude seems spot on. One point he won us a throw in on the half way line which seems pretty idle, but it was such good pressing. I saw him pump his fist after it, really loved to see it.
We’ve got the quality, ultimately if we set ourselves up more pragmatically as we have done in recent games and work harder than the opposition we’ll win a lot of games. |  |
