I think we've reached a stage where racism doesn't seem to carry the same scorn in society. I do blame brexit for this largely but it is carrying on. People say massively racist things and it is called out but then life just carries on, getting called out as a racist should make someone a pariah in society. It is should be akin to being labelled a paedo, they are people that just don't deserve a place. Perhaps we should just refer to that all as sub human scum instead of a racist? I think there’s a chunk of people who need educating rather than totally ostracising. That causes more division in the short to medium term.
My next door neighbour who is a black woman said to me the other day she really doesn’t like all the illegal immigration across the channel and how they need turning back. It made me think that sometimes people’s fears go beyond the colours of people’s skins. [Post edited 8 Jun 2021 9:51]

That could be racism couldn't it? I think the definition covers racial and ethnic groups. But then an obviously known threat shouldn't come in and (you would hope) would be picked up by security services in their application. |  |
