His arm was not in his face, it's clear from watching it. There are going to be loads of penalties if that is a pen.
None of the media are agreeing with you with regards to the ref having to give it.

Both penalties for me.
First one is obviously reckless. Didn't think the second one was as it happened but he sticks his arm out across Mbappe in the box. It's not reckless or dangerous, but it is a foul because Semedo impedes Mbappe with contact. |  |

Exactly the sort of decision that VAR was brought in for...and it fails to overturn an obvious mistake. Get rid of VAR.
For both pens, you've got half the players from both teams surrounding the ref telling him to check with VAR - the players don't respect the refs decisions anymore. |  |

I’m not denying it’s very soft, and seeing it again he doesn’t hit him directly in the face, but Semedo doesn’t really attempt to do anything other than push his arm up into Mbappe and block him off. I really don’t see why it’s being treated like it’s the most insane decision ever made.
I don’t really care what the pundits have to say to be honest. I wouldn’t trust Jenas to accurately call the colour of the sky and Ferdinand would describe someone pulling a gun and shooting a striker as good defending. Lineker just personally slagged of the ref. | |
