Clip of a Millwall Goals x 2 21:58 - Jul 31 with 2752 views | chrismakin | To be fair to town, the defensive shape isn't bad at all on the passing goal, and I can't see to many sides in league 1 spraying the ball around as well as Millwall have here. The main downside to this is their 7 who effectively creates the goal gets a freepass to move. Easy to point out before we go into the season. Also, the quick corner, sloppy to concede, easy to rectify again [Post edited 31 Jul 2021 22:01]

100%on that, second clip good possession, but at no point put pressure on them so no challenge, work needed,
Clip of a Millwall Goals x 2 on 22:25 - Jul 31 with 2561 views | Keaneish | Toto not goal side of his man and then drops deep inside the 6-yard to defend the ball across the box rather than his man whose not even had to move. Poor from Toto - how many times have we said that over the last few years. The one from the corner is farcical but as you say, it’s say to remedy. I’d be more concerned with Toto’s decision making.

yeah it's not great, seen it before in a league game but never saw it again in the games after, so glad it happened today rather than next week lol

Can imagine Cook giving them a ‘I don’t want to see us concede a goal like that again’ dressing down.

Agree, not a great position to take up and leaving his man like that. Toto is an ok back up bu hope we can see Edmundson and Wolfy. But still hope we have a nice big chunk of what ever our budget is to get a Sonny Bradley type CB to go with Edmundson.

It's really poor, but thankfully a friendly. Having said that, last season plus pre-season so far still leaves me fairly unimpressed with what Cook's done so far. Also, doesn't matter for this season but shows the gap between League One and the Championship when you consider Millwall are a bang average Championship side.

You're judging pre season friendlies? Millwall are a tidy outfit, they finished 11th and will potentially be near the top 6 this season.

I'm judging the combination of last season plus pre-season friendlies, yes. Like I said, rather a pre-season than a league fixture but I'm going on the evidence available so far. Yes, Millwall finished 11th last season. Mid table. Because they're an average Championship side, like I said.

Evidence from friendlies? I'd say average is a bit lower personally.

Clip of a Millwall Goals x 2 on 23:31 - Jul 31 with 2258 views | Vaughan8 | The short corner is absolutely awful to give away. As someone said above, a kids side shouldn't be giving that goal away. The third one, ok loads of passing, but does anyone look like making a challenge (maybe cos it's a friendly?) And then Nsiala is literally marking no one and reacts to late when he realises a man is free in the area I really hope edmundson comes in for Nsiala (I know people seem to like him but he doesn't look whenever I've seen him).
Clip of a Millwall Goals x 2 on 00:52 - Aug 1 with 2129 views | pointofblue | Midfield just let them play through us for the second but, had it been a league match, perhaps someone would have put in a challenge. Third was embarrassing - who was supposed to me marking Wallace?

Yes, because they're the most recent games we played and whilst we shouldn't care about the result we should ultimately care about phases of play in our defensive and attacking thirds. Yes, they're average but even if you want to be pedantic and call them slightly above average it makes no difference to my point.

More concerned we were pressing the ball in 1s and 2s which made it so easy for them to play round us and the lad from midfield breaking in to the box with absolutely no one tracking him. You can see the thought process of toto trying to block a ball accross the 6 yard box and i think at league 1 level, 9 out of 10 times, the player wont have the prescence of mind to cut it back. Laughable that he had twenty yards of space, friendly or not talk about switching off. the second was a typical friendly goal, the reason I'll never go to a friendly again, no challenges at all, the players just want to get through the game unscathed, understandably..
Clip of a Millwall Goals x 2 on 10:31 - Aug 1 with 1579 views | HARRY10 | A bit old fashioned, as it lacks a hip cliché or buzzword or two. But farken mark the opposition ! The second was virtually a free shot. And Toto for the 3rd was ball watching as he drifted away from 'his man'. None of the three goals were down to a supposed gulf between the two teams, but slack play on our part.

Think that gives me hope overall really. If that was the difference it actually bodes well as they can easily be resolved. Penney even made a comment which tells all imo something along the lines of the proper stuff starts next week ( something like that)

For the third goal they passed through us like our entire 10 outfield players weren't there. That there was a ultimately an individual mistake could be said for almost every goal ever scored.

If it was that simple, it would have been sorted out before. Toto has a habit of this, and the others should not be making these kinds of mistakes. They are the goals that turn wins into draws, and draws into losses. The exact opposite of what is needed to finish in the top two.
