Begs the question what was your top sporting achievement by 13?
As well playing in the winning side in the Braintree primary schools competition aged 11, I also played wicket keeper for the reserves at secondary school and took a leg side catch that was so good, it still leaves me warm amd fuzzy when thinking about it. My batting was a bit sh1t though, don't think I ever got into double figures.
I played my first game of competitive cricket in primary school at 8 for the first XI top scoring as well ( to be dropped the next week after I hooked our PE teacher for 6 in practice, the next delivery was off his full run and slammed down a bouncer to an 8 year old with no helmet! )
I was playing in goal for Year 6/ Year 7 and Year 8 at Prep school when not even 12!

Amazing what utter cocks so many PE teachers were back in the day.
Ooft, not that much. Really pleased for her and hopefully she keeps getting better and better
I'd won the big local 5-aside tournament with my primary school team from year 3 to year 6. I'd tied a pitch and putt tournament and received a new putter. I'd just started competing in cross country and county level.
The 5-aside was me at the peak of my powers, and it's been all downhill since then

"Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."
I came third out of over one hundred boys in a cross country run at Northgate despite starting five minutes after everyone else. I think I just got into the swing of overtaking the one in front all the time. Was a bit miffed when my form teacher (who was one of the marshalls) shouted out my name in complete surprise about half way round - and I was only about eleventh at that point.

I'm glad I wasn't competing against you then because it sounds like it would only have gone one way

When it was snowing and the pitches too frozen for footie or rugby, our physcotic PE teachers used to have us do cross country running (no trackie bottoms allowed) bare arms/legs.
2 laps around some fields, lanes reckon each lap was around 2 miles. Some of us used to hide in a hedge half way round, have a couple of fags, and rejoin the race on the second lap. Had to make sure you didn't finish too high or the games teachers would keep a close eye on you the following week.

'make sure you didn't finish too high' - so not just cigarettes then...
At Northgate the spot for a fag break was under the railway arch (because cross country run double PE nearly always coincided with heavy rain and biting east wind) but I had had a deep personal issue a month or so before my surprising third place so had given up the fags. Which makes me realise I have broken one of your ground rules because I must have been fourteen going on fifteen at the time (notice how I have only come clean once I have snagged a couple of uppies.)
I had a winners medal for the Evening Star Ipswich school's cup which was quite a big deal at the time......and probably still my greatest achievement on a football pitch.
And I hit a 50 (retired) and took 4 wickets in an over in a club match for Browns away at Felixstowe
Willing to bet Wallingford_boy has an opinion on this.
In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!
I also scored a brace for my cub scout Football team away at Harwich and Parkeston. Missed a chance for the hat-trick that has lived with me ever since.
