I think you meant - "provides skills, competencies and experience not present in the organisation to meet a particular project or business outcome"

Many have commented on here that Cook could do with an experienced assistant. Recruiting Reid, who seems a decent, experienced football guy as a part time "consultant", could be helpful. What's not to like?

I'd like it if it was officially as "assistant manager" or "assistant to the manager" as that makes the role a lot clearer, having a hovering consultant just seems to be a weird place that could cause concern in management team

He’s worked with Reid before at Wigan.

If Reid’s going to watch a few games, maybe watch some of the opposition and generally be a sounding board/trusted advisor then that’s great, surely?

I work with a couple of colleagues on the same basis. None of us are involved in each other’s day to day stuff but always there for some feedback and a word of advice. Sometimes, you need someone on the outside who can help you see the wood for the trees.

I asked and was told the tweet that he is in an advisory role wasn't true, but there are discussions ongoing and he could take up a position similar to the Wigan one under Cook.

Further to that, I hadn't realised PR was sat next to Mark Ashton and Luke Werhun until I looked for a photo just now - or that he worked with PC at Wigan until this thread - or I would have assumed there was more to read more into it! Lots of scouts and managers about on Saturday with so few games on.

Joe Royle was alongside Reid in a directors role at Wigan.

He is currently still in that role at Wigan I believe.

Trying to get my head around this. Is Reid advising Cook, so Cook can do things differently, or is Reid having a hands on role with the players - ie the quiet word in the ear after Cook as exploded at them?
