Why is Cook so weird about injuries… 12:19 - Oct 15 with 1148 viewschicoazul

….in press conferences? As in he seems to utterly hate discussing them. We’re used to the manager coming out and saying yes Adyemi Bishop Huws are still injured no they won’t be back for a while not sure when they will be training etc but now we hardly get anything and in fact Cook seems very bullish about not providing any updates at all.
Is this a new club instigated thing or is this something Cook has always done? Or something else entirely?

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Think he said early on that it just adds pressure and expectation on the player.

It must be a Cook thing as he was like it last year - it's very un-modern management in many senses. Where clarity, openness and transparancy are the order of the day - I can't imagine someone like graham Potter being like this

Wow - another odd stick to beat him with.

But if it gives the opposition just a tiny percentage boost in knowing our team, why do it?

Yeah, I kinda don't mind it, as fans we all want to know who is available, but it doesn't hurt to keep cards close to the chest.

He has made no secret about his approach though.

Odd. I have no interest in knowing who is available until an hour before the match. It does not interest me and provides no assistance to the oppo to hear who has dropped a jar of mayo on their foot or whatever.

It's almost Lambert-esque isn't it? Albeit Lambert didn't say because he genuinely didn't have a clue...

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Is it being weird? Why give the opposition a sniff of what is occurring in our camp. Also, look at the reaction at the time with the long term absences of Adeyemi, Bishop and Huws so why fuel the flames? Personally, I like how PC plays this down.

As opposed to stuff like essentially saying that Morsey was the man to ensure promotion....

It’s definitely weird. All our previous managers gave updates in their pressers. I’m not saying it’s bad or good, I can’t decide, but it is weird.

I suppose each to their own, really don't see the benefit of broadcasting it.

In fairness — much as I adore Potter and everything he has done/is doing — he's an absolute master at saying nothing!

Is it because when Ashton brought in the whole backroom staff from Brizzle all the Robins supporters said their players had lots of injuries and he doesn't want to embarrass the boss?
