What a difference a goal makes….. 18:08 - Oct 23 with 1853 viewsitfcjoe

…..do we have lift off?

I’ve always felt the minimum we could drift along at to stay in the mix was 1.5 points per game, now at 20 from 14 we are basically there….

A really good win, was well deserved - but the late goal took the roof of the place. Without that we end up looking at those next 2 away games in a bad place

We all knew these last 6 games were vital before a really difficult run of fixtures.

To be 2nd in the form table from those 6 games is very much what was needed. Well done to Cook and the players. Let’s keep it going now in a difficult stretch of games.

Feels like a significant win that!

Two league wins on the bounce is the real break through.

Let's make it three!!

Think that goal could be a pivotal moment in our season. If we had drawn today we'd still not have managed back to back wins under Cook and would have shown the same propensity to throw points away from winning positions that has dogged us this season. We really needed that win, could be a big momentum changer.

A draw would've been demoralising but... the game didn't have the same feel as Cambridge or even Shrewsbury, even before they scored.

At Cambridge you could feel us getting sucked back towards our goal and our lack of threat as time went on. Today Fleetwood looked a decent side who might punish us at some point but we were also consistently on the front foot. When we conceded today it didn't feel like we'd walked into it, but just that we'd not been clinical enough. Likewise when we won it late, it didn't feel like a hail Mary, more like we'd taken control of the game and they'd finally crumbled.

It does feel very important. Although I thought that about our late winner v Wimbledon at home under Lambert…. One game at a time

Agreed that the 3 points make a hell of a difference going into the next 2 games. With our set up, we won’t or rather can’t go looking for draws but 2 points from them would keep us sort of on-track. But I can easily see us getting more which would be a step beyond that. Maybe even a liftoff!

Difficult to look too far beyond those 2 games. And we have the FA Cup and FLT after that as a bit of a diversion.

Urgh let’s not play the points per game stuff.

Win or no win that second half was a performance we haven’t seen for years. If anyone can’t get behind this lot with excitement then they’ll never be happy.

Cant see us getting anything at Plymouth, although Houghton, one of their stand out players got final yellow card today so is suspended for us.

We can win that game, but we need to be at our best, because Plymouth are very decent.

I thought we did enough, they weren’t a bad side - Metete the 20 for them looked sharp.

Sort of game we simply had to win and we did, crowd stayed with the team and were well rewarded

I think being the underdog will help us massively. Plymouth will be fired up and will come at us. Leaving room for us to exploit perhaps.

Their 20 gave Morsy a right run for his money, really good little player him.

Thought the pig should have come on mid way through 2nd half as didnt seem to be working for Bonne today. He’d have been a handful up there.

That’s 10 points so far in October which was generally considered to be the minimum we should get at the start of the month, so if we can get another point or three at Argyle, that’s got to be regarded as a decent enough month.

Wasn’t it under Mick our October form was always dreadful for some reason?

Yeah it wasn’t really working for Bonne today – even if he probably should have planted that header in the first half.

I’d like to see us use Pigott and Bonne together at some stage. I think they could fit within that front 4 but certainly it would be useful to offer the same type of challenge as Morton and Garner did today. They gave Nsiala and Edmundson a proper game – and really the foothold for everything Fleetwood did going forward.

The Premier league is more competitive and the big budgets there blow the small teams away. Don't look for excuses yet again or we will have a 4th season followed by a 5th season at this level

Yeah, because all them top teams bring in 19 players in a closed season and blow the others way. Always happens instantly that success.

The only way we’ll know if this season is successfully is in we start next year in the championship.

Promotion is success. And I’m sure we’ll achieve that.

He chose to bring in 19. If it hampers our chances he shouldn't have done it

Promotion is very unlikely. I hope you dont regret it in May when we miss out to some small clubs

Them tw.ats we had last season would have been heads down with no ability to fight until the end. So 19 players were needed and you know it.

Very unlikely ffs. 4 points off 6th, 14 games gone, 1 loss in 8, highest scorers in the league, hitting form, find ways to win when not at 100%, players forming bonds all over the pitch… But yeah, very unlikely indeed.

I think I know why you are so upset, but I won’t say.
