And the over 40's? Edit....I had missed that btw, what was the reasoning? [Post edited 15 Nov 2021 10:17]

Oxford AZ vaccine... on 10:16 - Nov 15 with 2690 views | Ryorry | I think it is, for those who had Pfizer for their first two jabs. If you had AZ for the first two, you're given Pfizer for the booster, as a combination of the two types is thought to give the best outcome for max antibodies.

That's what I thought but was chatting to neighbours at the weekend and they all had Pfizer originally and got Pfizer as the booster too.

I would quite like the choice of AZ again tbh.

Think they were a bit unlucky then, but I guess much depended on local availability. Still better to have any booster than none tho.

Friend of mine has had three Pfizers. I'm going for a more mundane explanation. The NHS has shedloads of Pfizer with its challenging storage requirements and needs to use it up. Any spare AZ we can magnanimously give to poorer nations just ahead of its 'use before' date.

Probably a bit of that, probably a bit because of the efficacy data around Delta, and probably a little bit of the concerns about (extremely) rare blood clots (for which they probably don't have enough data for any vaccine yet, because they are so rare).

My friend who has had triple Pfizer had a blood clot episode shortly before Covid kicked off. He was straight on to an anti-coagulant and therefore got Pfizer. He said he was a bit 'wired' after the booster, which I assume was the additional microchip fusing with his neural system.

So I guess if the NHS bought any Moderna then they can get someone to kick the boxes around for a while and send it back to the States with an 'arrived damaged' note?

I had 2x AZ, now had a Pfizer booster last week. No side effects at all (I don't count a tiny bit of arm ache for 24 hours). r Am well chuffed. Hoping our utterly useless government work out that the booster proof needs to go on the NHS app, else I won't be able to go into France for a ski trip!

Same here. I don't think AZ is being used as a booster for anyone. My Mother had 2xAZ but had Pfizer as booster. [Post edited 15 Nov 2021 13:13]

That was my thought too. Probably a reason why AZ took so much flak earlier as well. Wouldn't do to give good stuff away at cost price when there are fat cats waiting for some cream.

It will still be much much cheaper than the MRNA vaccines, and far cheaper and easier to distribute. So no, not because of that.

Hoppy and I often meet and reminisce about our teenage years. The talk is usually of the dissolution of the monasteries.

Yes, but when we're reminiscing about yours, it's usually with the aid of history books, of course. We sometimes get to talk about my recollection as well, once I manage to get you to shut up about the dissolution of the monasteries. Of course, in your youth the Abbey Gardens wasn't actually called that, was it? The 'Gardens' bit got added much later.
