The answer to all the Cook questions on 01:27 - Dec 2 with 1615 views | ArnieM | OP: the reason we lost tonight was because the Town players stopped playing . Stopped running … were arrogant enough to think “ 2-0 up! We can’t possibly lose to these kids” - personified by Celina’s ridiculous penalty ! The PLAYERS lost that game . Not a system, or tactics, just bloody arrogant players !!

Celina the hero at the weekend was definitely the villain tonight The Arsenal lads showed more composure than ours and in fairness to them, despite being second best for much of the night, they hung on in there and snuck a result out of it That says something about their character at the very least, some of which will stand them in good stead as they become top flight players

Yep, system worked brilliantly for most of the game. Until we just stopped playing and then panicked.

So why didn’t Cook react to this? Totally get that the players stopped playing, but the manager has the ability to change some of those players in the game

Another example of why Celina is so infuriating.

We signed them! Big things were spoken about player attitudes being a big part of why they were signed.

Bang on. 3 players marking the front post for the free header on the first goal. If Burgess wants the shirt, he has to organise that as skipper. Wolfenden snapped back into his laid back self too. Too many players switch into training mode in games - not enough desire from some and it’s becoming very apparent who it is now.

Surely you have to have the players to make that change. You have to have people with guts, determination and a willingness to work and do the basics. I don’t think we have enough of those in the club. They have reasonable L1 ability but you need more than that to be a decent team. Any sort of pressure and the faint hearts collapse. They know it, the crowd know it and so do the opposition. We are an easy team to beat. I was reading about Portsmouth’s run since our win there. six weeks ago. Extraordinary - the form team of the division. You don’t turn things around like that unless you have desire, organisation and belief. We have none of those things. Without enough of the right players or attitude it’s only a matter of time before something has to change and fast. Some of the players and / or the manager. One thing I never understood with Cook. All good teams are built on defence. Everyone knows that. By and large the opposition know they will score a goal or two against us without too much effort. I don’t understand why he changed out the whole defence, which was by and large reasonable, last summer. Replace ageing Chambers with Edmundson, fine, but was it really necessary to tear it all up at the back in the summer? [Post edited 2 Dec 2021 8:56]

When will this club wake up?? by BlueBadger 1 Dec 2021 22:25Poor Paul Cook. Not only did he inherit a squad full of wasters who can't be arsed, but he's gone out and bought another 19 of them.
What terrible bad luck.

This shouldn't happen under a decent manager, especially one who has been so heavily backed to shape the squad as he wants it.

Did you miss the bit for the first goal where the only contact made was KVY putting it in his own net?

At 2 Nil up the manager can employ 2 banks of 4 at the back.
