A squad of good characters 09:03 - Feb 11 with 1128 views | Dubtractor | Reading Chaplin's article on the home page, and it reminded me something that's crossed my mind a couple of times this season. We seem to have a squad of genuinely good characters don't we? I think last season's squad seemed pretty sound tbf, but considering we were shopping in bulk last Summer, it's a bit of a result that we've ended up with seemingly no bad eggs. More than that, they seem to be genuinely sound people, getting involved with the community, happy to engage with fans, coming across really well in interviews etc. The fact that most of squad haven't been here a season yet, but we're already identifying with them as 'proper' town players is great IMO. I know Norwood divides the room a little, but even he seems to have sorted himself out a bit in recent months. If we can just maintain this current momentum of squeak our way to promotion (so stopping some of the better players from leaving) I think we've got the basis of a squad we can really go somewhere with, and a squad that seems to unite the support too. Maybe I'm being a bit soppy, but it seems like ages since we've had a team to really be proud of, on and off the field, so it seems a refreshing change.

Either way, it all sounds good what's coming out of the dressing room.

Getting rid of the majority of the dross from the Lambert , Hurst and Mccarthy eras in the last window has also been a positive . It has removed the negative vibes from the dressing room and as you quite rightly say, the players remaining all joined together and are all in the same boat. Despite all the arguments for and against , there were definitely a lot of sub standard players in the old squad and to get promoted, they had to go. A shame that the likes of Downes could not have stayed but there was really only a few up to scratch.

Yeah, its definitely Cook's fault that the previous crew had been a bunch of mood hoovers for years.
A squad of good characters on 09:58 - Feb 11 with 926 views | Garv | I've found myself assuming that the likes of Edmundson and Chaplin especially, are experienced 'older' players because of the way they come across. They're still only 24/25. For someone like Chaplin to get involved in the community trust side of things says a lot. Definitely bodes well.

As an aside, I love the phrase 'mood hoover', it is absolutely perfect for the people it is generally aimed at.

Chaplin becoming the LBGTQ ambassador, Coffee Club videos, Woolf's video about youth development - there is a lot going on behind the scenes to help the positivity. McKenna's openness and availably helps. Norwood is Norwood, but the fact that he hasn't been in the news other than for football reasons speaks volumes. His is the character ark is set up for a 89th minute winner at Wembley in May.

And on top of that there's the comfort - which we didn't have in the Evans era - that a lot of the best players are ours, not loanees. Walton, Edmundson, Evans, Chaplin, Edwards (who I think will come good, has so much ability), Morsy, etc

A squad of good characters on 11:37 - Feb 11 with 710 views | FrimleyBlue | I like the whole taking the team coach to home games. I know it's not garenteed to happen, but for me, i've always thought what if a player has had a bad day, they drive to the game, go into the ground get changed, go out warm up and play. At least with meeting other players way before the game, getting together, getting the coach to the ground etc gives that player a chance to speak to another player about that day, or to even hear a joke from a Norwood for example which might put the first smile on their face for that day. I know that above is a bit far fetched, but hope you see where im coming from

Similar to "Energy Vampires", like Colin Robinson in What We Do in the Shadows. An Energy Vampire is defined as "a species of supernatural creature populating the world. Unlike traditional vampires, they drain emotional energy rather than blood. They typically drain energy from others by boring them, annoying them, or making them feel awkward. Emotions of intense anger and awkwardness give an excess boost of energy to a vampire. Victims become physically tired and weakened when drained, and in extreme cases, they can faint, fall into comas or even expire" Sums up plenty of people on the internet, I think.
