Was somewhat underwhelmed when he was appointed and said so at the time, but am totally happy he's proved me wrong.

Going to be an exciting finish to the season for us and he's totally rescued our season. Even if we dont make the playoffs, I think hes got a good future at the club.

Lots of bitching coming out of Old Trafford about their coaches now. I reckon he's missed there!

I think this speaks volumes. It's early days but I suspect that Mckenna ends up at a much bigger club. Hope we can hamg onto him.

The first manager for a long time who when he says the squad is too big actually does something about it. Let’s not forget he moved on Nsiala, Fraser, Kenlock, Coulson, Harper, Nolan and Holy in January and replaced them with just Thompson and Bakinson. He’s intelligent enough to realise that a smaller tight knit squad is good for team spirit and easier to get instructions and coaching into.

Deeply disappointed he used the word “project” though.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

I honestly believe there is plenty of opportunity for us to grow together at a similar rate. He could be here for some time in my opinion, and very successfully too.

You coined the banter era to describe the 15+ years of sh1t we have had and you're worried about him calling it a project?

All being well we will be that bigger club.

Don't be so negative. I'm thinking he's here for the long haul.

My only concern is if/when we go on a losing streak people will lose sight of the improvements and not see the long term.

You can see how manager and club have an opportunity to grow together here.

I am hoping he will have built up plenty of credit in the bank before there is any sort of a losing run.

Mick Mills was saying how impressive it is for him to have dealt with all the off-field things that moving to a different part of the country that you are unfamiliar with brings and to immediately perform so well.

Big credit to the process that identified, appointed him (and presumably is supporting him through those things too).

Genuinely not being negative, Mckenna is potentially one of the next generation of managers. I hope he succeeds with us. I was just worrying when perhaps I shouldn't.

Look at it this way, if he ends up at a big club it'll be because he's had a massive success with us and we won't be mired in the third division.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Very true. Do we really have to go back to SBR when we last lost a manager to another job ?

It is a project, like a nice, but dilapidated, old house which needs some doing up to repair leaks and smarten up the decor.

There are very few places he could have gone to where he'll have the opportunity to shape/develop all of the footballing infrastructure of a club how he wants it. That must be really exciting for him and one of the reasons I think he'll want to stick around for a bit

Given the basket case we've become it's a total re-work. Mckenna can call it whatever he likes. How's your latest league prediction looking?

I'm intrigued, whatever division we are in, who he looks to recruit in the summer.

He will be tempted back to Old Trafford after our 3rd consecutive year in the Champions' League with only the one win in the final to our name.

Onto of that. There's not many clubs who have had a worse time in regards of managers as we have ( I guess against fan expectation of level we are playing)

Any new job he will have a very different level of expectation than he walked into here and as you say opportunity to grow the club how he wants with the financial support to do it.

There isn't anything he could want to achieve as a manager that he couldn't with town. If he takes us forward the club grows with it.

a niche perspective

Oh I don't know, maybe the England job would be something we'd struggle to complete against. After all, we do have form there

I assume your opinion of him has changed since you posted after listening to extracts of his first interview as manager of Town?
