Sounds like it’s a bit sneaky of the package operators, but I can see why the authorities would want to try and rein in pissed up Brits. Easy to get around though for those wanting to get absolutely hammered. Just get some Diamond White from the Spar innit.

It's long been the direction they want to go. Pi ssed up Brits on cheap 'all you can drink' holidays are not much of a money spinner Maybe they will have to go further to find somewhere that welcomes them Rwanda ?

6 pints a day is nothing on your hols though. There are plenty of non rowdy brits who do double that a day for the week on hols.

Each to their own I suppose, I couldn’t do that

At £240 quid what does he expect? Bloke that size who's a heavy drinker wouldn't be worth selling a ticket to at that money if it wasn't capped surely.

How to kill off the tourist trade on 17:54 - Apr 29 with 1648 views | footers | It's probably a couple of euro max for a beer outside of all-inclusive so if he wants to drink more than six, then he's well within his rights to. And it's in their rights to limit the amount of free booze given out. If people didn't act like prats then there wouldn't need to be rules like that. But there ya go. [Post edited 29 Apr 2022 17:54]

This is the absolute core of it. Too many Brits have behaved like absolute bellends when abroad (it's almost like we have a history of doing this or something) and booze is often at the heart of it. Its probably clearly stated in the T&Cs but nobody actually reads them.

I've been on quite a few all inclusives and I've never seen any rowdy Brits, I've seen the odd rowdy Yank and a fair few rowdy Russians. I think The Brits who cause a bit of a problem are generally the half board Shagaluf and Ibiza lot aren't they?

To expect to fly abroad, stay for three nights and get unlimited booze and food all for £240 suggests this charlie is not the brightest Aside for the problems these numpties cause, it is not really feasible for the hotels.airlines. More so given the rising cost of fuel. That he hadn't budgeted' for paying anything else rather gives the game away. Most folk on holiday like to explore a bit, and eat/drink in various places etc. it must be obvious that the high cost of policing, is set against a low rate of spend. These are business, who are seeing their businesses being killed off by this approach. I expect you will see a minimum price for drink slowly introduced, and other measures being taken to end those places catering for the bottom end of the market. They are beautiful islands and know they can get in a higher spend tourist

I'm paying £600 for a weeks A/I. Its well worth it. Have a mates holiday every year even at my age. It's a great way to unwind. By the pool all day having a beer whenever you want. We always go to the resort for a few paid ones in the evening and then back for a night cap. Food is usually excellent too. So much choice.

What he paid and how much he wanted to drink is irrelevant, the fact remains (I assume, as I haven't read it) that he paid for all inclusive so should have got it. I have often wondered how the AI resorts make any money but I just assume(d) it all averages itself out as a lot of people may go and not drink much.... ......that and the fact that all the drinks are watered down.

Quite. This newish regulation has been well publicised in Mallorca (it doesn't apply to the whole island, only to certain resorts) for at least several weeks. The UK tour operators absolutely should have made it clear to their clients that there would be a limit on free drinks. Luckily, the place I'm spending a few days in June is outside the restricted zone.....

Personally don't do all inclusive in places like Spain or Greece as I'm not sad enough to sit round the pool all day and night and not venture out prefer to see a few things whilst I'm out there. May be different in countries which are a bit more dangerous to go far from complex after dark.

Same here, though it’s horses for courses and each to their own. My lad and his girlfriend are off to Paphos in June, all inclusive and just want to laze about for a week doing diddly squat and eating and drinking. No problem, though I’d be bored silly after a few days and want to see stuff.
| We have no village green, or a shop.
It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub. |

Exactly, each to their own, it's no one elses business really. Both as a family holiday and couple holidays we have done both, hotel and explore plus also AI and do absolutely b*gger all. As for the six drinks thing again, it completely misses the point of an AI, and let's face it, as Texty says, 6 drinks a day is absolutely nothing for a holiday is it, it's just breakfast FFS

You may be right, I always avoid places nowadays that usually have Brits there. As much as I love my country it's nice to mix with different cultures when away. Russians I have always found to be absolute machines when it comes to drinking.

I'm not too heavy a drinker and I'd definitely get through more than 6 drinks a day on holiday. It's fairly easy to do it you're at it all day. Thankfully the places these rules are aren't places I'd be going anyway.
