Ipswich tourism 10:51 - Aug 7 with 2187 views | Sharkey | Any suggestions for bits of Ipswich that it's a pity that most tourists would never see? (I mean Ipswich proper, not the villages around.). For example, could be a weird bit of architecture, or an amazing garden in a terraced street, or some graffiti that's actually funny. Also, any shops where you wonder 'how on earth does that place keep going?', but you're glad it does.

Who's not interested in public lettering on buildings, but perhaps I should have said "Whether or not you're interested...."?

The bricky that was about to lay a brick there slipped and fell to his death. His bricky mates laid that white brick in commemoration of him. There's also a Jewish cemetry basically stuck in the middle of a car park down by the docks.

Yes I discovered the existence of the Jewish cemetery from the earlier mentioned website. Here's a link http://www.ipswich-lettering.co.uk/jewishcemetery.html

There are also tunnels under Fore Street, going down to the docks, possibly smugglers tunnels.

Funny that people go around reading signs when there is an actual library in the background filled with interesting books.

I actually apologise for being flippant earlier now. On further inspection it's quite the inventory. I thought it was just some saddo taking pictures of signposts.

That's fascinating and something I didn't know. And talk of the Greyhound reminds me of Berners Street, which is the road we take to the ground after leaving the pub, and is full of lovely Georgian buildings.
